What you'll do:

Eaton - MTL has an opening for a Design Engineer with Mechanical background. This position will be based in Chennai, India.

The candidate will be working on design and development of global electronic instrumentation products. He will be responsible for Concept development, perform DFM, design reviews, develop prototype and update project progress periodically.
• Designs parts, components and assemblies for Instrumentation Electronics products for applications in Process Industries and Industrial loops.
• Contribute to the development and characterization of materials and processes as part of the introduction of new and more performing machines

support manufacturing, testing and assembly.
• Good interpersonal skills which should reflect in communication with Hardware engineers.
• Work with other functional teams like Certification, Manufacturing & Process teams on early track to synchronize product development.
• Staff in the wider business on Sustaining Engineering issues, Manufacturing Engineering for NPI activities.• Having design simulation experience is a plus
• Working knowledge of overall design engineering processes encompassing ""Design - Developement - Testing - Product Launch"" is required.
• Provide manufacturability perspective for early concepts and help validate through building appropriate designs. Assist with building prototypes that help in proof of concept and work with all different stake holders"
The candidate in this position will be responsible to:
- Lead the project activities
- NPD and Sustain product development
- Design of Mechanical Parts - Plastics (Housings, supports) & Sheet Metal - starting from Concept, 2D & 3D Modelling, Proto builds & Validation
- Work around the boundary of relevant Industrial Standards - UL, IEC etc to accomplish the design
- Should be able to manage customer requirements, concept design/selection, detailed design and analysis & design validation.
- Design for manufacturability - to improve new and existing designs & strong enough to address the technical challenges
- Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) certification is a plus
- Ability to develop productive working relationships with other stakeholders / functions outside of Engineering
- Maintain credible communication practice with stakeholders on technical clarifications, testing & resolving of field failures
- Maintain effective communications both verbal & written with customer, team members and cross functional teams
- Be an active professional in continuous learning resulting enhancement in organizational objectives
- Continue to lead the team, mentor them and develop their skill set.

Qualifications:

B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering
Bachelor's degree - 2 to 3 years experience

Skills:

• 2D drafting knowledge
• 3D Modelling - Concept, Wireframe, Plastics, Sheet Metal etc.
• Knowledge in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
• Knowledge in material properties & accurate choice of appropriate materials"
