Eaton's IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer & OpEx Manager. With 250 employees, the Los Angeles facility designs and manufactures quality valves, regulators, and other fluid controls used mostly by the Aerospace Industry.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $142312.5 - $208725.0 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do:
The primary responsibility of this role will tie together the Manufacturing Engineering and Operational Excellence functions to increase customer on-time-delivery while reducing inventory requirements, increasing material velocity, and reducing costs. Reporting to the Plant Manager on the Site Leadership Team, this role provides supervision and technical leadership to the manufacturing engineering team supporting development and production programs for fluid control and actuation products. The team is responsible for the development and continuous improvement of processes, tooling, and equipment for various military and commercial programs. A successful candidate would be able to lead a team in meeting the day-to-day program and production deliverables, while implementing larger scope initiatives for process improvement and cost reduction. They will also assist Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineers, Focus Factory personnel, Project Lead Engineers, and/or Operations Management in determination of work sequence, setup and run time estimation and validation, supporting tooling, processes and fixtures, determining scope, tasks, and budgets.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Directly supervises a team of 5-10 Manufacturing Engineers/CI Coordinator with responsibility for generating and evaluating goals and development plans
• Own new product launch deliverables through all gates of ProLaunch including production transition. Specifically ensure design for manufacturability and design to cost targets are achieved by active participation in DFMEA, PFMEA and process error proofing techniques.
• Develop and implement processes to improve troubleshooting production issues related to product non-conformance and performance test failures for hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical products. Specifically monitor and support the elimination of daily variation to TAKT rate output.
• Focus efforts of the manufacturing engineering team on meeting factory productivity cost out objectives. Specifically drive positive standard labor variance and favorable variable manufacturing expense variance through the use of ELSS tools and design to cost initiatives.
• Drive utilization of a problem-solving methodology (DOE, 8-D, A-3) in the manufacturing engineering team to define true root cause and process prevention based corrective action.
• Improve implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and utilization of Six Sigma methodologies to develop and maintain robust manufacturing processes in order to increase productivity, reduce variation, eliminate waste, and minimize assembly and test cycle times.
• Serves as the team representative, focal point, and leader to all internal and external customers.
• Works collaboratively on a cross-functional team to execute projects on time in meeting program and production deliverables.
Defines and manages capital base to support current, future and cost savings objectives.
• Prepare and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource plans.
• Ensure compliance with Environmental, Safety, and Health (MESH), ISO, and other industry standards.
• Serve as a technical contact with internal and external customers, manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, quality assurance, product support, material, and suppliers ensuring their satisfaction.
• Serves as the team representative, focal point, and leader to all internal and external customers.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
• 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or operations environment
• 2+ years of experience in continuous improvement techniques
• 2+ years of supervisory or leading teams experience
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Hydro Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution
• Master's Degree from an accredited institution
• Aerospace industry experience
• 3-5+ years of supervisory or managerial experience
• Industry 4.0 implementation
• Experience with Power-BI
• SAP S4 working knowledge
• Involvement in successful process definition and re-engineering
• Experience in employee involvement in multi-discipline teaming
• Working knowledge of ISO-9001
• Experience in lean application and deployment; low volume / high mix product experience; strong communication skills and ability to work with people not reporting directly (matrix organization).
