What you'll do:
Develop and manage the overall labor and employee relations strategy for India and South Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand). Provide guidance to HR and leadership teams on employee relations strategies and positive employee relations. Provide guidance and oversight for local union negotiations. Stay updated union negotiations, emerging trends in labor & employee relations and Labor Laws in the region and prepare organisation in adanve to respond to those trends. Develop, interpret and recommend program goals, policies and procedures and courses of action within the region while working within the parameters of the corporate philosophy and strategic business decisions.
A. Role encompassed a comprehensive cover across all business on strengthening processes like, Employee relations policies & framework, Risk assessment & statutory compliance, Wage settlements, Management charters, service conditions for local salary graded non-unionized staff & workmen category employees, Contingent workforce policy, strategies & approach

B. Develop positive Labour & Employee Relations strategy and practices for deployment within Eaton facilities, Work with HR Managers on specific ER initiatives
C. Act as the focal point for local labour negotiations with unions to ensure consistency across business entities, monitor implementation of long-term wage settlements to ensure that harmonious relationships between management and workmen (unionized employees)
D. Providing guidance and training to HR fraternity and management teams on employee relations, employment laws / statutory compliances updates & amendments to ensure compliance
E. Develop risk assessment, statutory compliances and governance process & framework and organize periodic audits
F. Respond in a timely and legally correct manner to a wide variety of queries/questions from internal customers across Eaton
G. Support HR & business managers with Eaton business excellence, HR operating review & other assessments
H. Act as main liaison and coordinate investigations and inquiries.
I. Guide labour relations issues regarding potential acquisitions, green field projects or divestiture decisions. Also Support & advise for M & A strategy in terms of compliance, governance & ER strategy
J. Liaise with other team members globally and maintain a network of contacts to stay abreast of best practices. Coordinate with HR in WHQ and RHQ to update and involve leaders on actions and direction related to labor relations
K. Build rapport with external stakeholders such as government offices and network with ER/HR fraternity
L. Actively participate in creation, review and revision of HR policies and practices. Follow the established Corporate HR standardization processes to ensure proper approvals as well as linkage to Eaton Philosophy and Corporate policies
Qualifications:
- Master's degree
- 15 plus years of experience in Indian labor relations of which at least 4+ years at corporate level. Demonstrated ability to lead labor negotiation and should have signed labor/ union negotiation contracts
- Masters' degree or equivalent experience in Indian labor relations; legal degree in Indian employment law would be an added advantage
Skills:
- Strong technical expertise in the laws/statutory requirements related to unions as well as the practical experience of dealing positively with employee relations and employee representation.
- Demonstrated positive communication and interpersonal skills and techniques to effectively interact with business leaders, partnering for effective solutions and responses to labour and employee relations issues
- Working knowledge of manufacturing operations and organizations
- Focus on and managerial courage to "Do the Right Thing" in the context of the Eaton Values and Philosophy
- Experience working in a matrix organization
- Knowledge of available resources to find solutions to unique situations
- ER management experience in other countries in APAC region and exposure to regional labor laws will be added advantage
- Leading labor negotiation and should have signed at least at least 4 - 5 labor contracts
- Strong technical expertise in the laws/statutory requirements related to unions as well as the practical experience of dealing positively with employee relations and employee representation.
- Exposure to regional labor laws and trends
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts as a part of virtual, global teams
- Good interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
