Eaton's Industrial Controls Division is currently seeking a Lead Test Engineer. This is a hybrid position (3 days on-site, 2 days remote per week) based at our Menomonee Falls, WI location.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $93750.03 - $137500.04 a year.

The Lead Test Engineer will reside in the divisional headquarters building, which houses engineering for multiple product lines as well as marketing, sales, finance, and research. The facility boasts an open office layout surrounded by large windows, as well as 50,000+ square feet of onsite state-of-the-art laboratory space, a basketball court, ping-pong, garden, fitness center and grill & patio. The role will support the test design, test development, test framework and test execution of embedded firmware and software for ICD's next generation of industry leading products and IoT applications. Primary products are related to advanced motor protection, communications, reduced voltage starting and variable frequency drives for industrial applications; leveraging embedded micro-controllers and digital signal processors in a real time operating system environment. The candidate will work within a firmware center of excellence together with other team members driving new product and process development while leveraging modern toolchains.
Essential Functions:
- Lead test development and test execution for new product introductions and support development team through project lifecycle.
- Defining test plans and procedures.
- Support the architecture, development and maintenance of automated test frameworks, test systems and toolsets including model-based testing such as HiL, SiL.
- Defining project schedule details and milestones related to test.
- Support process improvement initiatives globally and functional excellence.
- Leveraging DFSS tools/knowledge in development and execution of test plans.
- Support KPI and test documentation reporting, practices and toolsets.
- Lead root cause analysis for quality escapes and support root cause preventative actions.
- Delivering test related activities in alignment with Eaton's phase gate process.
- Mentor test engineers globally.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in test engineering
- Experience working with Python and C/C++

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing test cases from functional product requirements as well as detailed design requirements
- Experience and knowledge of embedded real time multi-tasking operating systems
- Experience developing custom automation solutions
- Experience developing frameworks using Python and other scripting languages
- Experience interfacing with PLCs and other smart industrial devices
- Experience with ethernet based communication protocols such as Profinet, Ethernet IP and Modbus TCP and other industrial standards
Skills:
- Working knowledge of the evaluation methods in the design, development, and debugging of electronic devices
- Working knowledge of IEC, UL, and CSA standards for industrial devices
- Strong problem solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively explain technical concepts to executive team and customers
- Knowledge and experience related to industrial applications such as motor protection, motor control, industrial communications protocols, and power systems is preferred
- Knowledge/training related to the fundamentals of micro-processors/controllers
- Knowledge of advanced engineering practices, processes and related tools. This includes (but is not limited to) requirements management and traceability, bug tracking, version control, test driven development, simulation, and continuous integration
