Lead Mechanical Drafting Technician

Eaton's ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Drafting Technician. The position will be based at our Sumter, SC facility.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $55125.0 - $80850.0 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do:

The Lead Mechanical Drafting Technician (Switchboards) is responsible for interpreting customer supplied drawings, specifications, and notes and translating them into drawings and bills-of-materials for internal customers, component layout and component modeling using 3D cad software, and supports various phases of order management from initial engineering review thru production shipment.

In this function you will:
• Prepare switchboard manufacturing information (MI) utilizing Eaton specific Software such as, Bid Manager, Design Automation (DA), Plant Order Manager (POM), and AutoCAD to meet customer requirements
• Create or edit bills of material to ensure correct material demand requirements for purchased and self-manufactured components related to switchboard pans
• Identify and design special fabricated steel pans using 3-D modeling software
• Ensure MI's are complete and that the material is routed accordingly to the appropriate assembly team
• Load electronic copies of all required manufacturing information retrieved from internal and external customers
• Provide input to Bid Man and Design Automation development teams on design and pick table enhancements.
• Work closely with assembly teams to resolve process and/or quality related issues on the shop floor.
• Work closely with engineers, through order reviews and process improvements, to ensure accurate interpretation of customer supplied order information.
• Adhere to all safety rules and procedures, including 5S requirements, and responsible for reporting unsafe conditions to the appropriate management or ESP/ELS representative.
• Participate in Lean events, special projects and continuous improvement projects to reduce cycle time, increase front-end efficiencies, and improve information quality.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
• Associate degree from an accredited institution.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a continuous basis without company sponsorship
• No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate geographical area of Sumter, SC (50 miles) will be considered for this position. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with 3D cad software such as Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks.
• Background in Electrical and Mechanical drafting from an accredited institution
• Working knowledge of Eaton tools and processes as they apply to Sumter switchboard processes (Bid Manager, Plant Order Manager, OMS and other AS400 programs).
