The expected annual salary range for this role is $93750.03 - $137500.04 a year.

What you'll do:
Job Summary
Eaton Research Labs (ERL) is seeking a Lead Materials Engineer to be part of the Materials for Power Conversion Group within the Advanced Manufacturing Team. In this role, you will be responsible for researching and developing materials solutions for power conversion applications. Materials specialization in thermal management including material development and modeling in fluids, potting, thermal interface materials and dielectrics is a plus. The individual is expected to have a broad working knowledge in power conversion topics such as AC-DC, DC-DC conversion, Semiconductors, Magnetics and Power Electronics Integration/Packaging. They will work cross functionally across other materials teams within ERL including Power Electronics and Energy Conversion, and are expected to brainstorm and develop compelling ideas and technologies to benefit Eaton businesses. The individual is also expected to collaborate with other external partners including academia and national labs to secure funding for various Department of Energy (DOE) and Department of Defense (DOD) programs. They are expected to contribute to technical presentations, journal articles, white papers as well as IP generation within this role.

Job Responsibilities
- Identify materials and manufacturing solutions for the next generation of power conversion applications relevant to Aerospace, Electrical and Mobility businesses within Eaton.
- Develop strong business relationships across Eaton businesses to understand and address critical problems that require materials based solutions.
- Develop new proposals for Government Programs by working cross functionally across other ERL and business teams.
- Serve as an technical expert for materials and manufacturing problems relevant to power conversion.
- Lead projects and programs within Eaton and collaborate crossfunctionally with University and commercial partners.
- Actively present in conferences and technical meetings with stakeholders.
- Publish technical/journal articles, whitepapers and reports.
- Troubleshoot and develop characterization capabilities for supporting failure analysis for Eaton businesses.
- Effectively utilize program and project management tools to achieve project goals and participate in technical reviews for our businesses
Qualifications:
Basic (required) Qualifications:
• PhD in Materials, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with ( 0 -2 years) ... or MS degree in Materials, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with (3+) years of professional experience.
• Previous Thermal Modeling experience.
• Previous experience with materials development for thermal management in power conversion applications such as converters, inverters, transformers, power electronics.
Preferred Qualifications:
• PhD Degree in Engineering.
• Contributed to proposition development for technical projects and programs .
• Contributed to government proposal preparation and/or assist with project execution.
• Served as technical lead in proposal preparation and/or owner of work package during project execution.
• Supported building business relationships by presenting ideas and projects, participating in ideation events and acquiring resources and funding needed .
• Attends conferences, seminars and/or consortium meetings in relevant industry to network with technical peers and stay relevant in their fields.
• Assisted in the identification of leading external partnerships, outside technologies and best practices to bring to Eaton .
