Eaton is looking for a Lead Engineer to join a corporate research department.
Location: Eaton European Innovation Center in Prague, Czech Republic.
About the project:
This position will contribute to research and development in the field of power electronics and drive technology advancement in the areas of solid state circuit breaking, resonant converters, solid state transformers and electric drives. Main applications of our technologies are in electrification of transport, energy conversion and storage, alternative power generation and distribution. We are looking for candidates who like to push the limits and are not afraid of reach mega-watt power range.
Eaton Research Labs department is focused on development of new technologies for future Eaton products. We define, evaluate and test novel concepts for a multitude of industrial and transport applications. Together with your colleagues from different technology fields and from various countries, you will be the pioneer of new tech, products and opportunities for the entire corporate. You will join a group of experienced engineers and utilize your technical excellence to lead projects towards innovative solutions through simulations, design, development and testing of power circuits.

Job profile:
The Lead Engineer will create emerging power conversion & power system solutions based on breakthrough technologies for industrial, automotive, truck, and aerospace applications. The team works on state-of-the-art electronics and identifies and develops commercialization opportunities with diverse Eaton businesses.
Main responsibilities:
• Lead power electronics research, design and development activities at TRL1-5
• Demonstrate ownership for the assigned projects and task
• Perform modeling, simulation, PE and PCB design and validation of electronics circuits
• Collect and analyze data to optimize designs to meet performance, size, manufacturability, reliability or costs targets
• Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, and firmware engineers to successfully design and validate the design
• Create technical reports and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders
• Support team and work with external contributors (business divisions, universities and customers)
• Develop test cell facilities and related hardware
We would like you to bring:
• Msc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of experience in R&D - power electronics and electronics design (DC/DC converters)
• Modeling and simulation (Matlab, Plecs, Altium, Eagle, Spice)
• Strong understanding of circuit theory, containing power electronics (solid state circuit breaking)
• Experience in designing cutting-edge electronics (SiC, GaN (silicone-carbide, gallium nitride)
• Ability to demonstrate problem solving using logic and methods to tackle diverse problems
