What you'll do:

Eaton India Innovation Center (EIIC) - Aerospace FMC Division has a 'Lead Engineer' position open. The incumbent in this position is responsible for successfully shaping up, leading and execution of strategic Cost Out and Resiliency projects. The Lead Cost-Out Engineer is responsible for creating/driving 3-to-5-year cost-out strategy, cross-functional coordination of all cost-out activities which require Engineering process or product changes. In this role, he/she will act as the engineering knowledge interface/Point of Contact (PoC) for supplier technical collaboration, with typical product knowledge of, and experience in Fuel & Motion Control Systems (FMC) Division product lines. The person will work collaboratively with Supply Chain Function and PLM, along with Engineering, to drive such strategic projects.

"The candidate in this position will:

• Lead, guide, and support cost out work as it relates to design, technology, materials, processes and transactional efficiency as controlled by engineering drawings, standards and process documentation.
• Support Commodity Managers as the technical interface with Supplier to identify cost out drivers/ suggestions as presented through IDEAS (Innovation Drives Excellence, Ac Savings) database, or from Supplier and/or Plants VA/VE events, or through Engineering VA events.
• Plan and host cost-out ideation events at the FMC sites in pursuit of cost-out goals.
• Provide engineering costs and/or schedule estimates in support of cost benefit analysis and for should cost modeling.
• Support Commodity Managers at the IDEAS and CODB (Cost Out DataBase) database meetings through preparation of the engineering deliverables to status, prioritize and workload.
• Participate in supplier development activities with Suppler Develop Engineers (SDE's) specifically to review supplier innovation suggestions and/or opportunities.
• Work directly and collaboratively with Commodity Managers/Purchase Managers and Suppliers, and Integrated Product Teams (IPT) in a cross-divisional matrix environment cost out and innovation efforts.
• Plan, manage, and execute cost out projects working in ENOVIA, and employing EPIC and/or PRE/Prolaunch processes that are applicable, following ACES guidelines.
• Coordinate reviews, creation of, and/or modification to component details/assembly drawings/documents and/or CAD models working with cognizant Product teams/ Chief Engineers / Configuration Management and others as necessary.
• Provide regular formal and informal updates for cost out reviews to Engineering, Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Plant Leaderships.
• Responsible for cost out-goal alignment and setting as well as tracking metrics such as Pipeline, Work-in-Progress and Realized cost-out targets.
• Ensure best practices for cost-out and cost-avoidance are documented and shared across FMC.
• Participate in New Product Development Design Reviews to ensure design for cost best practices are followed.

Qualifications:

Bachelors or Masters in Engineering (Mechanical, Hydro-Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical or Mechatronics Domain)
"Master's degree with 08 to 10 years or Bachelor's degree with 10 to 12 years experience
Overall 10 years of experience, minimum 08 years of Product Engineering, Design, Development and Validation of Hydraulics, Hydro-Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical products; preferably Hydraulics Valves"
