Eaton's ES AMER Sector Integration division is currently seeking a Lead Embedded Firmware Engineer.

This position offers a Hybrid work schedule at our Eaton location in Raleigh, NC. Work Sponsorship offered. Relocation offered to candidates residing in the US and live outside 50 miles of the facility.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $115,000 - $142,999 a year.

Eaton is seeking a lead Embedded Firmware Engineer for its Power Electronics and Battery Center of Excellence (CoE).

This individual will be responsible for embedded firmware development, implementation, and validation for power conversion and battery management system products and platforms. This individual will also be responsible for driving the use and adoption of model-based techniques during the NPI process. This includes the use of Model in the Loop (MIL) and Hardware in the Loop (HIL) methodologies during the design and validation.
• Architects and designs robust embedded firmware for power conversion and battery management system products and platforms
• Implements, tests, and troubleshoots firmware
• Plans and performs firmware development and validation on HIL and lab
• Creates technical reports and presentations
• Initiates and leads design reviews and technical discussions, including brainstorming

Qualifications:

Basic (Required) Qualifications:
• BS in electrical engineering or computer science or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years of related engineering experience in the development of embedded firmware for embedded systems, power converters or battery management system products
• Minimum 4 years of embedded software architecture and C/C++ programming (TI DSP, FPGA, ST microcontrollers).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in implementing and verifying the digital designs using VHDL or Verilog.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with digital communication protocols like SPI, I2C, UART and Ethernet.
• Strong understanding of FPGA design flow and development tools such as Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus.
• Experience with board bring-up.
• Knowledge of real-time operating systems
• Working knowledge of Hardware-In-Loop (HIL) HW and SW
• Experience in developing and implementing control algorithms with auto-code generation tools (e.g., Simulink Coder)
• Experience using Matlab/Simulink for FW development and implementation
• Experience working in diverse cultural situations with global customers and team members
• Familiarity with development tools such as compilers and debuggers
• Ability to learn new skills, technical knowledge, products, or industry
• Strong written communication and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of engineering processes
