Lead Design Engineer

Eaton's ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a Lead Design Engineer. This role is based out of our Ellisville, MO location.

We are seeking a Lead Design Engineer with a background in electro-mechanical design to join a team that's challenged with changing the way our customers safely interact with and understand their electrical infrastructure. Our goals are to increase safety, minimize power problems, create context for users when problems do occur, and help them save energy. The team focuses heavily on design, prototyping and user testing. The position will require occasional travel.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $91500.03 - $134200.04 a year.

What you'll do:

  • Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments.
  • Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods and represents the organization in meetings to resolve important questions. Supervision and guidance related largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts and policy matters.
  • Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices.
  • Routinely plans, develops, coordinates, and directs a large and important engineering project or a number of small projects with many complex features bringing them to a successful conclusion in a timely fashion.
  • Effectively advocate for users in a corporate climate, providing day-to-day design leadership
  • Work closely with technicians, designers, engineers, and business professionals to guide products from inception through delivery
  • Work with customers and internal stake holders to understand the product space and design priorities.
  • Create and iterate on prototypes at various levels of fidelity.
  • Test prototypes

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 7 years working as an Electrical/Mechanical Designer, design engineer or a similar role
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working on new product development
  • Strong communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineer, or physics.
  • At least 5 years of experience working as a Design Engineer
  • Exposure to working with a cross-functional teams
  • Experience and exposure to Design Thinking tools and methodologies
  • Experience with Agile development

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel up to 10% internationally and domestically.
  • Build strong relationships and operating rhythms with leaders inside and outside the core team.

  • Ability to lead a globally diverse team
