What you'll do:
- Adapt existing product design for additive manufacturing with a goal of increasing first pass yield, reducing product test scope, and reducing the time to market for these opportunities. The ability to work closely with engineering teams to quickly adapt designs for additive manufacturing and rapidly iterating through design solutions to solve printing or machining challenges will be critical for the role.
- Develop novel product design solutions utilizing the capability of additive manufacturing which offers significant advantages over conventional approaches in lead time, cost, and/or performance.
- Support the development and deployment of the additive manufacturing strategy within the Aerospace Group.
- Lead the development and qualification of additive manufacturing opportunities working closely with the commercial and product design teams.
- Recommend design solutions, influence the final design construct, connect targets to the appropriate additive manufacturing process.
- Lead multiple high visibility additive manufacturing projects to ensure milestones are being met and benefits are being realized.
- Lead internal & external innovation workshops to identify potential game-changing solutions enabled by additive manufacturing, prioritize them, and hold gate reviews to ensure business alignment and support.
- Lead internal training/Additive workshops to develop Additive Engineering capability.
- Responsible for identifying and executing on AM proposals to customers including business case development
Qualifications:
- 5 years experience leading Aerospace engineering projects;
- 3 years of new product development experience relating to Aerospace military hardware
- 1 year experience with metal additive manufacturing
Skills:
- Experience in/with metal Additive Manufacturing.
- Experience in/with polymer Additive Manufacturing.
- Experience qualifying Aerospace components.
- Experience influencing change remotely.
- Experience with 3D modelling tasks and developing efficient models.
- Knowledge of analysis and simulation tools such as ANSYS, Simufact, Amphyon, etc.
- Experience doing "Design for AM" work for products
- Knowledge in business case development
