What you'll do:
Eaton's Electrical sector is seeking a 12-month Engineering intern to join our Central Engineering team! This position is based out of our Burlington, Ontario facility. This role commences in May 2025.
Position Overview
This position will work closely with product development engineers to support in the new product development process. This includes contributing to a product specification definition development. Working with marketing to capture market customer requirements and to finally releasing a product requirement document.
The role will also involve in designing to meet product standards that govern construction and approval body acceptance of designs. There will also be opportunity to automate 3D modelling tools and learn manufacturing methodologies and limitations. The candidate will work in a team environment where relationship building and experience in working with people with other work styles can be gained.

Primary Focus would be in automation scripting software.
Developing a new tool to help integrate the way we do business virtually for the switchboard/Panelboard products. These are power distribution assemblies up to 600V. The function includes working on a project to automate the way we generate drawings and 3D models
Essential Functions
- Provide a complete solution to automate and digitize the way we create drawings, schematics, models.
- Programming and troubleshooting.
- Support for the development of an improved SharePoint, Confluence websites and JIRA Kanban pages for projects
- Automate process to handle testing request in the lab and prioritize the requests in JIRA
- Contribute to build automation in creating 3D models (parts & assemblies) and develop drawings based on Eaton's standard templates.
- Build and setup Firmware cybersecurity testing plan and process.
- Support in setting up firmware development environment in Github.
- Support tool development that will improve department efficiencies and repeatability of work processes.
- Complete other duties/projects as required.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
- Enrolled in and returning to a university degree program (specifically 3rd year computer engineering student or 3rd year computer science student with background in electronics).
- Candidate must be legally eligible to work in Canada with no company sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship or co-op experience an asset.
- 2 - 5 years of experience in programming
- Strong analytic skills using Microsoft Excel

- Interested in learning new hardware and software application and tools.
