Eaton's ADMIN Administrative division is currently seeking a Global Trade Management (GTM) Specialist.
What you'll do:
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Function as the GTM expert and on-the-ground resource for import operations and compliance matters for Eaton businesses at the Haina, Dominican Republic facility. Develops and maintains thorough and current knowledge of international trade laws and regulations for applicable trade activities at the Haina plant. Ensures full development and deployment of required standard procedures to mitigate compliance risk and optimize trade costs for all international transactions.
This position will contribute to the development, implementation, and governance of international trade policies to ensure full compliance with international regulations regarding import and export of materials, goods, and technology.

What you'll do:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
A. Ensure full compliance with Customs Regulations, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Origin, Free trade agreements, etc.
B. Develop and deploy procedures to ensure compliant execution of import and export documentation; all local procedures must align to Corporate GTM guidelines and ensure complete and accurate data is provided for export and import processes.
C. Ensure the data integrity of Trade Compliance processes including, but not limited to, country of origin, valuation, HTS and free trade (CAFTA-DR) designation).
D. Create verification processes to ensure export documentation is declaring accurate data including, but not limited to, country of origin, valuation, HTS and free trade (CAFTA-DR) designation.
E. Ensure the correct applicability of FTA's. Develop and deploy CAFTA-DR verification process in alignment with Corp GTM CAFTA-DR Qualification by Process standard procedure (include periodic verification of BOM's and supplier certs)
F. Participate and contribute to IT projects designed to automate and simplify import / export processes including automating data flows to brokers and to Eaton's Center of Excellence (CoE) as required.
G. Communicate trade compliance related policy, procedures, and economic issues that affect the local plant. Assist in providing training, advice, and guidance to other areas throughout the plant as necessary.
H. Act as the local GTM Coordinator and conform to SCM-GTM 4 Corporate Policy.
I. Engage with ES America's Business Unit management on strategies and initiatives that affect GTM and where trade matters may impact strategy. Provide regular reports to Corporate GTM and ES leaders on the status of their GTM programs, current initiatives, and outstanding GTM matters.
J. Develop clear understanding of various Eaton disciplines (Tax, Legal, Finance, Supply Chain) and operational disciplines as they relate to international activities.
K. Coordinate within the Corporate GTM Department, with other Divisional GTM Managers, and with Group GTM Managers on matters with a potential common nexus.
L. Ensure the proper recordkeeping based on the current customs regulations on import and export transactions and Free-Trade Agreements. Responsible for maintaining the electronic or hard copy records for the customs Operations performed in Haina.
M. Collaborate with the GTM Manager to attend customs audits and any other requirements from the government (CBP). As well as attend internal risk assessment from Eaton or Peer Reviews Audits.
N. Provides analytical support to implement processes and procedures for new international activity including acquisitions, initiatives, and projects.
O. Stay up-to-date with the Law and other customs regulations applicable to import and export trade operations.
P. Coordinate with the CoE supervisor and serve as the local liaison providing insight and assistance to fellow CoE subject matter experts about classification and FTA's activity.
Q. Able to identify compliance problems and respond with appropriate actions; identify people needed to resolve compliance problems and collaborate to develop corrective action plans.
Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree required.
• 3-7 years direct import and/or export compliance experience in a major corporation, service company, or law firm.
• Project and/or program management experience of 3-5 years preferred.
• Subject-matter expertise in relevant areas of trade compliance.
• Proven ability to identify areas where process improvement is required, to develop process improvements with businesses, and to assist businesses in implementing those improvements.
• Experience in developing and delivering trade compliance training.
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability, communication skills, and cross-cultural awareness.
• Detail oriented, possessing good analytical skills; able to anticipate problems and diffuse situations.
• A strong team member, able to shift roles as required by the group dynamic (e.g. contributor, facilitator).
• Self-motivated and able to simultaneously manage multiple time-sensitive tasks.
• Product familiarity and experience needed
• Proven use of Six-Sigma tools to drive process improvements is preferred.
• Ability to interpret regulatory updates and support modeling of strategic impact on company goals.
• Knowledge of audit and assessment procedures and evaluation of internal controls.
• Working knowledge regarding the service capabilities, roles and responsibilities of customs brokers, freight forwarders, free trade zone (FTZ) and logistics service providers.
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in written word to all levels of management, functional staffs, line level employees and local government officials.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and influencing capabilities.
• Ability to think critically.
