Eaton's ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a Engineering Manager, Electronics Hardware, based at our Moon Township, PA facility. Relocation assistance is available! This role is responsible for leading the efforts of electronics hardware design engineers in creating products for Eaton's PCD business. This includes new product development, design maintenance, resolution of customer/field issues and continuous improvement while leading a team of direct reports at the Cherrington technical center. You will build high-quality products and high-performance teams through application of best-in-class development processes, sound personnel management, effective cross-functional coordination, contributing to the global alignment of the product designs.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $130500.0 - $191400.0 a year.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the day-to-day activities of a team of hardware design engineers who may be direct or indirect staff and located at multiple Eaton sites. Manage priorities and team member performance. Comply with safety, administrative policies and processes.
  • Execute new product development from planning through industrialization. Lead the team in developing product requirements, design concepts, detailed designs, and test plans. Drive design reviews, design validation, and transfer of new products to manufacturing, ensuring that designs are cost effective and suitable for manufacture.
  • Perform product line support engineering to enable production and sales while protecting product functionality and compliance. Direct teams in analysis and problem-solving for product issues and ensure product function and integrity according to customer requirements and standards. Maintain third-party certifications.
  • Participate in global product and technology strategy, and project prioritization process. Drive innovation events and intellectual property capture.
  • Drive functional excellence in engineering by assessing and developing capabilities, and hiring individuals as required.
  • Deliver manpower, budget & timelines, adjust those plans, and track as part of regular project reporting.
  • Communicate and coordinate activities with Product Line Marketing, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and other Engineering teams.
  • Drive process improvements with respect to best practices in HW development, including requirements management, design documentation, design FMEAs and product data repositories.
  • Ensure constant improvement in skills though formal training and assignments which encourage an individual's growth.
  • Conduct performance reviews, administer merit plan, oversee reward & recognition, and formulate goals & development plans with direct reports.

Qualifications:

Basic (required) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution
  • Ten (10) years of experience working on Embedded Electronics Systems or Hardware design
  • Three (3) years of experience supervising a team
  • Eligible to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with project management and a track record for delivering high quality HW designs on time.
  • Experience with electrical power systems
  • Completed or in-progress Six-sigma Green Belt certification

Position Success Criteria:

  • Experience working with Embedded Systems development from initiation to launch and customer support
  • Electronics design, both digital and analog and micro controller-based systems
  • Leadership on product development involving cross functional teams and people development skills
  • Experience with product development tools and processes with continuous improvement mindset.
  • Working w/ distributed (multi-site) development, test & production teams
  • Knowledge on regulatory standards (NEMA, UL, CSA, IEC, etc.)
