Eaton's EPG EAS Electrical Automation Solutions division is currently seeking a Embedded Software Test Specialist. This position is based at the Eaton Americas Innovation Center in Brossard, Québec, Canada. This role offers hybrid work opportunities, as well as benefits from day one. Candidates must reside within 80km of Brossard, Québec, Canada.

The Software Test Specialist ensures that the products developed are tested effectively in order to deliver them to market quickly, while meeting the high-quality standards in effect at Eaton. The Software Test Specialist does this by proposing, implementing and maintaining the testing environment, with the objective of increasing the coverage of tests. The Software Test Specialist participates in the definition of needs and solutions, by sharing their expertise to ensure the testability of deliverables and the maintainability of test infrastructures.

The Software Test Specialist is part of the development team, and therefore works closely with developers, product managers (technical and marketing), project managers and other members of the software group. You will participate in sprint planning exercises, daily Scrum meetings, and end-of-sprint reviews and retros.

You will be exposed to different aspects and technologies of our substation automation products and will therefore quickly become a reference in the energy domain and the use cases of our products from our customers standpoint.

Due to expertise, the Software Test Specialist will also be called upon to collaborate with other teams within Eaton, with the objective of contributing to the success of collaborative projects or to ensure the quality of a family of products that share features or work together to offer integrated solutions.

Essential Functions
In this role, you will:
• Participate in the review of the system requirements in collaboration with the client and make sufficient learning of the business domain for the good mastery of these requirements.
• Participate in project planning stages in order to estimate/plan efforts, strategies, and resources related to verification and validation.
• Develop and execute test plans, test scenarios, and test procedures for different types of tests (functional, GUI, integration, regression, data validation, and overall system integration...). These can be manual or automated tests, executed automatically or in close collaboration with a client.
• Implement reliable and maintainable test automation solutions to control software regression.
• Analyze test results and identify, document, and report root causes of test failures by working with the development team and defect tracking system.
• Verifies official versions of client products and takes responsibility for the quality of the end result.
• Participate in drafting the maintenance, installation, operation, and software solution maintenance manuals.
• Learn and maintain knowledge of EATON products.
• Participate in the improvement of the test methodologies and their dissemination.
• Participate in the management and maintenance of the testing laboratory.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in software system, black box, integration, exploration, performance, load, and regression testing.
• Demonstrated experience in software development in C, C++, or C#.
• Experience with IP network protocols (TCP/UDP/IP).
• Experience with JIRA and GitHub.
• Fluency in English and French (working proficiency). Fluency in French and English is required for this position to communicate with colleagues, customers, and partners located inside and outside of Quebec, as well as to understand technical documentation in the field of our industry.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without corporate sponsorship now or in the future.
• Candidates must live within an 80 km radius of the Brossard facility.

Preferred Qualifications
• Software Quality Assurance Studies or Software Testing Certifications / ISTQB Certification.
• Experience with Python/Powershell in a verification or automated testing context.
• Experience with an automated testing software solution (TestComplete or other).
• Experience with industrial IP protocols: Modbus TCP, DNP3, OPC-UA, IEC61850, etc.
• Knowledge of virtualization tools (VMWare, Hyper-V, Container, etc.).
• Experience in setting up/maintaining technological infrastructure (networking, Active Directory, switch, LAN, etc.).
• Experience with Agile development processes and working in an Agile team environment, using SCRUM or any other framework.
