Eaton's VEH EMB eMobility division is currently seeking a Electrical Engineer.

What you'll do:

Primary Function:
The engineer in this position will be reporting to a Supervisor/ Manager. The engineer will be responsible for leading or supporting the design and development (D&D) of production-intent eMobility PD&P products for a variety of OEMs and following Eaton's product D&D quality management system. The engineer will be responsible for leading sustaining engineering work on products manufactured at the Eaton Reynosa plant. The Sustaining work includes cost-out as well as electrical design analysis & verification activities. This engineer will need to work cross-functionally with PD&P engineering internationally, perform challenging assignments with minimal guidance.

Essential Functions:
Lead or support the design and the development (D&D) of the electrical hardware for automotive Power Distribution and Protection (PD&P) products.
• Lead or support Product Sustaining work and cost-out activities.
• Lead or support typical D&D electrical work products as needed: Requirement analysis, Design Architecture, Contactor selection, Sensor Selection, hardware/Software Interface documents, Electrical Schematic & PCB design, Worst case calculations, DFMEAs, Drawings, Simulations, Bill of Materials, Engineering reports etc.
• Lead or participate in electrical project monitoring and control activities such as: Work planning, team meetings, open issues list & risk management.
• Lead or participate in electrical design reviews: System design, Schematic, PCB, component selection, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), EMC, thermal etc.
• Interface with component (ICs, PCBs, FETs, CAPs, RLY etc) Manufacturers and discuss how to best integrate their parts into the Eaton's circuit designs.
• Create and execute design verification test plans (measure voltages, currents, signals, rise/ fall times etc.).
• Prepare the design documentation for release (PCB Assembly drawings, Manufacturing files, Gerber data etc.).
• Provide manufacturing Engineering with support during prototype product builds.
• Provide support to test engineers during the investigation of module-related issues that may surface during design validation testing (DV/PV Testing).
• Lead or support the investigation of project issues at the module and vehicle level.
• Participate in components supplier and production lines audits, as needed.
• Interface with customer and other internal groups such as Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Test / Validation Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering as needed (Questions and answers, Technical
• Presentations, product requirements, design assumptions etc). Support vehicle builds, product launches, and production quality investigation as needed.
• Follow Eaton's Quality Management System (processes, standards, work instructions etc) in all product development work

Qualifications:

Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineer.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in new product development of automotive, or related electrical design experience
• Good knowledge of the automotive product design and development cycle (from concept to production).
• Solid understanding of automotive specifications.
• Experience developing project work plans and project risk management.
• Experience in reviewing and discussing technical requirements with OEM Customers.
• Experience in schematic / Circuit and PCB design of: Micro-based designs an analog design.
• Demonstrated circuit design Knowledge of typical automotive circuits (I/o, Micro, DC/DC, FET, A/D, Rly CAN, etc.)
• Experience in circuit design analysis: Worst Case Calculations, DFMEA, FTA, FMEDA etc.
• Experience in developing design verification test plans.
• Hands-on experience using test & measurement equipment (power supply, oscilloscopes, current probes, oscillators etc.).
• Hands-on experience in evaluating the thermal performance of electrical designs.
• Understanding of how design for EMC. (RE, RI, CE, ESD etc).
• Hand on experience with discussion DFM / DFT topics with the Manufacturing plant teams.
• General knowledge of Functional Safety and ISO26262.
