What will you do?
- Champion a strong EHS culture: Actively promote a safe work environment and advance EHS goals by generating initiatives focused on incident prevention.
- EHS data management and training: Conduct EHS data analysis, manage and report data, and provide technical expertise. Develop and deliver hands-on EHS training, including behaviour-based safety techniques.
- Program implementation and coordination: Assist in or drive the implementation and coordination of EHS prevention programs. Actively participate in EHS and ISO audits, address audit findings, and complete EHS program requirements such as inspections and investigations.
- Environmental initiatives: Focus on site environmental efforts, such as waste reduction, waste management, and wastewater treatment. Implement strategic environmental initiatives.
- Hazard/risk assessment and training: Perform hazard/risk assessments and create safe operating procedures. Train and educate employees on job-related hazards.
- EHS committee participation and document maintenance: Actively participate in the EHS committee, including inspections, deficiency reporting, and corrective action tracking. Maintain EHS-related documents, such as permits, inspection reports, and training records.
- You will present a variety of safety training topics to groups of employees.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Must have completed a college diploma or University degree in Health & Safety from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental, health and safety in a manufacturing facility. Minimum 30% of previous experience must be environmental-specific job responsibilities.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.
- Only candidates residing within an 80 km radius of Milton will be considered for this position. No moving (relocation) is offered for this position.
- Must have experience utilizing a variety of digital tools to track and/or present safety metrics.
Preferred Qualifications:
• ISO 9001:2015 knowledge. Knowledge of ISO 14001.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles.
Skills:
What will make you successful?
The successful candidate will have knowledge of Ontario Occupational, Health Safety and Environmental legislation and requirements for compliance. They should be adept with digital tools and capable of analyzing data, reporting out on metrics using tools like Microsoft Excel - including pivot tables and conditional formatting, and can quickly learn new digital tools.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, are crucial for this role, along with the willingness to proactively approach employees to reinforce proper safety behaviours on the production floor. The candidate should also be able to multi-task and shift priorities as needed in a fast-paced environment.
