Eaton is hiring a Director, Enterprise AI, Data and Integration Architecture. This position can work out of any Eaton U.S location.
The Director reports to the Chief Enterprise Architect and is a global technology thought leader and people manager with a broad and deep technology background who also has a solid grasp of our business and the industries we work in. The person in this global role communicates and collaborates with business and technology leaders and leads a team of enterprise data and AI architects to develop AI, Data and Integration technology strategies & standards, architecture blueprints & patterns and provide architecture governance for all initiatives that are planned and executed in the AI, Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Architecture, and Integration Architecture domains. This Director level role has direct reports as well as matrix reports that are solution architects in the value streams/ technology and platform teams that they support. In addition, this person also advises, guides and influences ITSLT leaders, their direct reports, and the technology teams in their areas, to help them make the right technology acquisition and usage decisions that directly support Eaton's business outcomes. He/ She also analyzes technology and market trends and determines the potential impact of emerging technologies on the enterprise. The Director of EA is responsible for evaluating the requirements of a business or IT request and then architecting, designing, and potentially creating the basic framework of an enterprise-wide technical solution to support that request. They are also responsible for the execution of architecture efforts and has overall responsibility for the architecture and design of solutions that encompass functional applications as well as AI, Automation, Cloud, Data & Analytics, Digital, Integration and Orchestration technologies. This person will work with the development teams to provide design oversight and guidance at varying levels during project execution. Finally, the Director of EA is accountable to ensure solutions being developed are in support of the strategic goals for the company - both business and IT.

Job responsibilities
• Serves as a technical SME in the areas of Enterprise Architecture, Enterprise Data Architecture, Enterprise Integration Architecture, AI Architecture, Technology Standards Management, Architecture Governance and assigned functional domain(s)
• Manage a team of 4+ global Enterprise, AI, Data and/or Integration Architects
• Lead multiple matrixed global Solution Architects
• Collaborate and partner with business leaders and IT BRMs to understand business strategies and develop, own, and govern our technology strategy for the specific areas supported.
• Provides architecture and technology advice and guidance to Business leaders, IT SLT, their direct reports and delivery teams on Architecture and Technology elements.
Engages with IT BRMs and Business partners across all spectrums of business to triage requests and determine/ recommend technology and solution options.
• Leads the development of enterprise AI, Data and Integration Architecture artifacts, gains consensus from other technical teams and governs the implementation of these artifacts. Own Architecture Review Boards (ARB)
• Leads and drives architecture, design, and solution discussions both with business and other IT personnel.
• Organizes and leads cross-functional discussions within the IT and business organizations in support of key strategies and initiatives.
• Works with the other product and solution architecture groups to develop and govern technology standards and capabilities within the organization.
• Guides and directs cross-functional project teams throughout project execution life cycle but partnering with product and solution architects.
• Ensures business requests and technology solutions are in alignment with Eaton's strategic goals.
• Manages architecture and governance activities across multiple initiatives and teams simultaneously.
• Evaluates technical capabilities of vendors and owns the technology lifecycle for all technologies within the supported domains.
• Creates and presents solutions with varying options covering both tactical and strategic needs as necessary.
• Leads the resolution of technical or architectural disputes.
• Ensures adherence of solutions to established architecture standards and processes. When needed works within and across other organization to develop/ modify the appropriate standards.
• Represents the Architecture and/or IT organizations as a whole in discussions with third parties (vendors, clients, joint venture partners, etc.)
• Can step in when needed to provide technical leadership for cross-functional projects from design through to deployment as needed.
• Provides managers with technical performance assessments.
• Recognizes new/evolving trends and ensures personal growth and skill maintenance as a contributor. Analyzes new technologies to resolve business problems.
Qualifications:
Basic (Required) Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
• Minimum ten (10) years of experience in the Technology Architecture discipline.
• Minimum three (3) years of manager of people experience.
• Minimum one (1) year experience in AI/ML engineering.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience and knowledge of business architecture and enterprise architecture functions and processes. Familiarity with EA frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman etc.
• Expertise in the AI, Data, and Integration domains. Have strong familiarity and experience in developing AI, ML and GenAI related solutions. Additionally, have experience in various integration mechanisms (API, SOA, ETL, Event based messaging etc.). Very strong in Data Architecture and should have led Data Architecture teams and projects.
• Demonstrated Experience leading global teams of architects that deliver architecture outcomes that directly support the achievement of business goals and strategies.
• Demonstrated Experience in developing business capability maps, reference architectures, technology blueprints for specific technology and functional platforms (specifically AI, Data, and Integration areas). Additionally, expertise in keeping these artifacts relevant and governing against this artifact.
• Experience in software development (leveraging multiple development technologies like C++, Java, SQL, Python, R, etc.), managing teams of technical resources and in translating business and functional requirements to technical solutions that can be leveraged in the delivery and implementation lifecycle.
• Experience in resolving technology disputes and influencing stakeholders to leverage and follow enterprise architecture decisions.
• Management Consulting experience.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $176249.97 - $258499.96 a year. This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
