What you'll do:

This role encompasses the leadership of the division engineering function, supporting each product line and their respective engineering teams to drive innovation, new product development and technical competence to ensure we meet our business commitments and customer expectations.
Through the division we utilize a range of engineering skills from electrical, electronic, mechanical, audio and optical competences. This role will drive our technical roadmap both in technical skill requirements but also technical skill development. The job holder will need to promote and drive the project management processes to ensure compliance to the PROlaunch approach to product development.
For the holder to be successful they must be able to successfully work within a matrix organization and managing indirect teams (engineering teams within product lines, CoE etc.) within the wider business.

  • Defines innovative product and technology roadmaps in concert with product line managers and business leaders
  • Support and encourage the building of organizational capability through coaching and performance management initiatives.
  • Leads QFD (Quality Functional Development) for Life Safety and ensures that with his team product requirements are specified well.
  • Establish governance for product development cycles on new products from concept to launch.
  • Works with the ES EMEA VP and Directors to advance innovation and leverage synergies across platforms.
  • Ensures that Product Roadmaps (MGPT) are in place and continuously updated
  • Supports ES footprint activities and helps to transform a scalable organization where resources and capabilities are shared.
  • Drives continuous improvement by implementing value add/value engineering (VA/VE) projects to achieve annual cost reduction goals.
  • Implements and reviews change control process at a Divisional level to ensure that modifications are evaluated and defined prior to implementation.
  • Champions process improvements that result in significant reduction in time-to-market and overall improvements in engineering productivity.
  • Lead the divisional approach towards Product Data Stewarding, liaising with pan Electrical Sector teams to ensure a consistent approach.
  • Liaises and sits on appropriate international regulatory groups to ensure competitive advantage
  • Works with the regional and global leaders and teams to advance innovation and leverage synergies across platforms..
  • Sits on the senior management team of the division and actively contributes to the wider business goals and objectives of the division

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive engineering responsibility
  • Minimum 5 years of direct engineering management experience
  • Demonstrated experience in implementation of large scale product development programs
  • Experience with Life Safety products or similar is strongly preferred
  • Solid experience with a phase gate process for new product development
  • Strong project management experience
  • Experienced in multi-cultural working environments and developing communication strategies across them
  • Extensive experience working with international suppliers and/or customers
  • Experience working with offshore engineering resources
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English
  • Successfully proven cross-functional interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Deals with concepts and complexity or ambiguity comfortably, intellectually sharp, agile and capable
