Eaton's ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Design Engineer. The position will be based at our facility in Hodges, SC.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $67500.0 - $99000.0 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

Position Overview: This role is a unique opportunity to develop best-in-class products and features through product research, design, design validation, deployment, and maintenance in accordance with market needs. This role is also responsible for providing technical expertise on busway products. The Senior Design Engineer will be essential in annual engineering growth projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Translate internal and external customer requirements into measurable performance criteria.
• Develop technical communications: datasheets, interface control documents, test plans, etc.
• Design, CAD 3D modeling, engineering drawings on Autodesk Inventor and test the product prototypes. Maintain and improve existing products through design and competitive analysis.
• Engineering change management for existing product through PLM (Product Lifecycle Management System) e.g. ENOVIA
• Resolving Existing product design related manufacturing & quality challenges & Customer issues.
• Prioritize, Plan and execute product design sustaining engineering (MOL) projects
• Systematic approach of problem solving through root cause analysis, DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis) and related problem-solving tools.
• Data drive six sigma design approach
• DfX (Design for Excellence), GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) & Tolerance stacking analysis for making design effective and reliable within practical manufacturing environment.
• Test plan creation (DVP&R) and work with third party certification agency (UL/CSA/ETL) for test plan sign off and product certification
• Lead product performance test execution, like thermal performance, short circuit performance, mechanical integrity performance etc.
• Work with other Eaton Electrical businesses as well as outside suppliers to develop new features and design opportunities for products within the product line scope and charter.
• Integrate best practices from each functional team to deliver a high quality, best-in-class design.
• Apply knowledge of industry and certification standards to ensure proper product compliance (UL, NEC, CSA, NEMA, IEEE, CANENA)
• Represent the product line as a technical consultant. Investigate and evaluate opportunities for product development and redesign.
• Identify technology upgrades and cost reduction opportunities to keep the product line in a competitive position.
• Product design and development of the special customer design needs, for quick response to the market.
• Provide guidance to manufacturing engineers during development of products and during upgrade of existing product. Provide direction to production employees on technical issues. Maintain drawings, product structure, and design standards.
• Work with manufacturing disciplines to design processes as well as products which meet market and customer needs.
• Lead & facilitate the Certification agency (UL/CSA/ETL) audits
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
- No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the work location will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum 1 year of work experience
- Experience with Design for Six Sigma
- Experience with simulation analysis
Position Criteria:
- Knowledge about 3D CAD tools (Autodesk Inventor is Preferred)
- Knowledge about industry DfX (Design for Excellence) practices
- Team player & ready to work with cross functional teams to achieve common goal.
