Eaton's ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a Design Engineer.
What you'll do:
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Product Engineer position will have design responsibility for select products and learn industrial circuit breaker technology and applications. Responsibilities include maintaining third party certifications & functional requirements, supporting the resolution of production yield and quality issues, performance enhancements, validating changes in design, manufacturing, and cost reductions. The position works closely with the industrialization and product line marketing teams, in addition to plant manufacturing & quality teams, and customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Study product requirements/standards, perform detailed design, validation, and documentation of product designs including tolerance analysis to optimize dimensions and specifications.
- Enhance performance margin by utilizing simulation & modeling, and statistical quality tools to establish performance baselines and measure improvements.
- Execute test programs to determine if design criteria for overall system, software and hardware are met.
- Build prototypes as needed to support evaluation and validation of existing product and development project performance, directing relevant testing in lab facilities.
- Work with manufacturing process owners to understand capabilities, establishing process controls and validate the process for cost-effective, error-proof manufacturing.
- Develop technical knowledge in circuit breaker design and testing along with the applicable governing regulatory standards (UL, CSA, IEC, NEMA, etc.).
- Utilize communication skills to clarify product requirements, deploy designs, instructions, and share product information.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with focus in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited institution, with graduation date before August 2025
- Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8
- Minimum of one internship/co-op experience or an equivalent of 3 months of electrical, mechanical, or industrial experience completed at the time of this application
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without Company sponsorship now and in the future
- Must be geographically flexible to relocate within the United States
Preferred Qualifications:
- Overall cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher
- Prior internship or co-op experience within the electrical/power industry
- Experience working in a manufacturing or plant operations environment
- Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or the community
Position Criteria:
- Capable of working with engineering and project team members, production facilities, and outside suppliers and customers
- Capable of clearly communicating ideas and concepts within a team environment
- Capable of training and developing peers and production personnel
- Able to assemble, verify, and correlate results as well as prepare reports and present findings
- Able to effectively communicate work progress, cost, risks, scope creep, and related project status
- Proactively seek personal development
- Capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously
Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The salary for this is $80,000 a year, dependent on the work location and qualifications met. This position offers a one-time $6,000 signing bonus and relocation lump sum package.
