Eaton's Bussmann Division is currently seeking a Design Engineer. This is a hybrid position (3 days on-site, 2 days remote per week) based at our Ellisville, MO location. Relocation assistance will be provided to candidates currently residing within the US/PR. Company sponsorship will not be provided.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $67500.0 - $99000.0 a year.

What you'll do:

Join our dynamic engineering team as an entry-level engineer, where you'll apply your skills and creativity to design innovative electrical circuit protection products and enhance our current offerings. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, supply chain, quality, manufacturing, and operations, to drive Eaton's Bussmann Business strategic growth plans.

Key Responsibilities:

Innovative Engineering: Work alongside talented engineers and technicians to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria for new product development, cost reduction, and product line support projects.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with marketing, manufacturing, sales, and quality teams to develop, validate, and launch cutting-edge products into the market.
Project Support: Assist and support projects to successful completion, meeting performance and cost objectives. Prepare print, specification, and analysis packages for final approval by the group supervisor.
Manufacturing Integration: Collaborate with sourcing, quality, suppliers, and the manufacturing team to ensure new products are economically manufacturable, aligning with Eaton's operational priorities of safety, quality, delivery, cost, and inventory.
Prototype Development: Coordinate with laboratory and plant production teams to create product prototypes for customer evaluations and product verification testing.
Quality and Six Sigma Tools: Utilize quality management systems and Six Sigma tools, such as failure mode and effects analysis, control plans, design of experiments, and statistical analysis, to develop robust design solutions.
Product Line Support: Provide support for existing product offerings, from answering technical questions to developing solutions for product performance or quality issues.
Problem-Solving: Employ rigorous problem-solving techniques to determine root causes and develop appropriate permanent corrective actions, enhancing and improving design solutions.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution, with graduation date no later than August 2025.
  • Minimum of one internship/co-op experience or an equivalent of 3 months of electrical, mechanical, or industrial experience
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without Company sponsorship now and in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Experience in product development of electrical/mechanical assemblies
  • Experience working within quality management systems
  • Experience in testing techniques

Skills:

  • Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, 3D CAD modeling tools, and Minitab
  • Knowledge in product development of electric/mechanical assemblies in a rigorous engineering environment
  • Knowledge in the design of components with varied manufacturing processes including: injection molding, stamping, machining and high volume assembly processes
  • Knowledge of power test equipment and measurement instrumentation
  • Knowledge of electrical circuit protection products, electrical distribution systems, or panelboards
