Eaton Corporation located in Galesburg, MI has an opening for an Application Engineering Co-op.

The hourly rate for this position is 19.38 - 24.23 per hour.

The primary function of the Applications Engineering Co-op is to provide application approvals of customer vehicles while protecting Eaton and Eaton Cummins Joint Venture (ECJV) from dissatisfied customers or excessive warranty expense. This position analyzes proposed OEM vehicle configuration requests to determine compatibility with Eaton and ECJV transmission and clutch products. Proposes alternative vehicle configurations to improve customer satisfaction and/or reliability.

This position will be responsible for the following:

• Performing vehicle performance analysis of Heavy Duty and Medium Duty vehicle specifications for Transmission and Clutch applications
• Transmission and Clutch application approvals for customer vehicles ensuring all product requirements are satisfied.
• Frequent communication with OEMs, Sales/Service Representatives, and end use customers to better understand application requests.
• Learn how transmissions work and how they interact with and are affected by the rest of the drivetrain components.
• Assisting current engineers with test execution and data collection.
• Writing test procedures, technical reports, and maintaining global application approval processes.
• Database creation and maintenance.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

• Actively enrolled or received a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics degree program or related field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum completion of 2 years towards a Bachelor's degree, sophomore status may be eligible if candidate has significant work experience.
• Ability to work part time during the school year, and up to 40 hours during the summer.
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above (please do not round)
• Relocation is not provided for this role, the candidate must be located within 50 miles of Galesburg, MI.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

• Strong ability to work efficiently in a group
• Eagerness to learn
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office software especially Word and Excel
• Comfortable working with minimal supervision
