Eaton's IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Controls Engineer (Automation & Integration). This is a Full Time (M-F Daylight) role located at our North Charleston, SC facility.

This position operates within the Charleston, SC Machining Center of Excellence and will focus on execution and implementation of best machining practices, including process troubleshooting and improvement, new product introduction, and advancements in machining technologies. This role requires knowledge and practical experience with a multitude of material removal processes including CNC turning, milling, grinding, broaching, hobbing, and honing.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $91500.03 - $134200.04 a year.

What you'll do:

This position operates within the Charleston, SC Machining Center of Excellence and will focus on execution and implementation of best machining practices, including process troubleshooting and improvement, new product introduction, and advancements in machining technologies. This role requires knowledge and practical experience with a multitude of material removal processes including CNC turning, milling, grinding, broaching, hobbing, and honing.

In this function you will:
• Delivers process improvement cost out initiatives: Cycle Time Reduction, Tooling Cost Out, Set-up Reduction, Process Capability/First Pass Yield
• Participates as an active member in Rapid Improvement Events (RIE) to eliminate waste and drive standardization.
• Integrating measurement systems into existing equipment to enhance automation capability
• Develops and implements effective mistake proofing as part of continuous improvement and root cause/corrective action.
• Setup and modifications of equipment logic systems and programable controls.
• Researches, justifies and implements new technology as part of the site's capital strategy.
• Develop new equipment interface with application specific vision systems.
• Supports development and execution of overall manufacturing strategy that supports the site's business strategy to meet safety, quality, production, delivery and cost
• Maintain appropriate equipment documentation, train, and coach.
• Follow all of Eaton safety policies and standards
• Fulfill the requirements of the Quality Policy and Quality Management System
• Recommend and implement upgraded technology to improve safety, reliability, work efficiency and to reduce electrical consumption.
• Integration, configuration and programming of robots/cobots

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution
  • 3+ years of prior Manufacturing Engineering experience in manufacturing environment.
  • 1+ year with PLC, Ladder Logic and/or Function Block diagrams experience
  • 1+ year of industry communication protocols (Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/ IP ect.)
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • No relocation benefits are available for this role. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Charleston, SC will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

Preferred qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Computer Science Manufacturing, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of prior Manufacturing experience
  • Able to take mechanical drawings and identify how they interface with electrical schematics
  • Experience with Vision systems integration, check routine development and control concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong leadership and teaming skills, solid analytical and reasoning skills.
  • HMI improvements, development and maintenance.
  • Experience with Keyence and Cognex set up and support in manufacturing environment
  • Experience in Java, microcontroller programming and HDL languages
  • CMM Programming Experience
  • Numerical Control programming experience (G-Code)
  • Robot/ Cobot experience (Omron, Fanuc, etc)
