Eaton is seeking an CI and Industry 4.0 Engineer within the Electrical Sector's Protection, Control and Solutions business. Reporting to the CI and Industry 4.0 Manager, the primary objective of this role is to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety in manufacturing operations through the strategy deployment of industry 4.0 tools and technologies. This position is based at our Airdrie, Alberta facility, requires onsite presence and offers benefits from day 1. Candidates must reside within 80km of Airdrie, Alberta, Canada.
The CI and Industry 4.0 engineer will be the champion of several pillars in the Industry 4.0 Strategy helping Airdrie's plant to drive the digital transformation. In this role, the incumbent's responsibilities span 3 key areas:

- The establishment of digital connectivity to monitor the performance and health of manufacturing assets.
- The development of critical data pipelines that help run the business and the building of tools that analyze data which aim to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of our KPI and process.
- The deployment of automation technologies such as robots, cobots, autonomous mobile robots and machine learning.
Additionally, the engineer will actively contribute to the overall deployment of other Industry 4.0 technologies (such as augmented reality, factory simulation, process control and traceability, digital work instructions, and additive manufacturing) as well as designing, implementing and optimizing industrial processes including manufacturing flow, material and tools, to improve value added activities on the production floor.

What you'll do:
In this function you will:
- Manage Industry 4.0 projects including automation, Digital core, IIoT, machine learning, systems integration and business analytics.
- Develop knowledge & expertise in the Industry 4.0 tools & technologies to be a subject matter expert (SME) in automation, machine learning and business analytics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional resources to execute projects - Plant Leadership (OPEX, Quality, production, Engineering), Information Technology, and the divisional Digital Factory Engineer and Manufacturing leaders.
- Guide & support plant teams on machine connectivity & data acquisition activities.
- Train key plant personnel on the Industry 4.0 tools & technologies being deployed to ensure successful adoption and achieve improvement objectives.
- Support plant leadership to define Industry 4.0 project objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with the development, submission & approval of business cases for Industry 4.0 project opportunities.
- Lead continuous improvement projects that impact Plant data analysis.
- Seek opportunities to improve data quality.
- Format data to identify needs, provide relevant insights, predictive analytics and make recommendations.
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies and tools to crate Process Maps, Layout, Plant Capacity (man vs installed capacity), Standard Work, Takt Times, Potential Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Design of Experiments, Control Plans, and Job Safety Analysis for production lines.
- Design, implement, and optimize industrial processes, including determining manufacturing methods, tools and machines required to produce, defining standard work by doing time studies and full analysis for VA, SVA and NVAA analysis, and defining manufacturing flow including safety, sequence, balance, parts and manpower requirements by implementing MURI, MURA, MUDA Methodology.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, automation and/or IT project development.
- Advanced experience in Lean manufacturing & Six Sigma - Green or Black Belt certified preferred.
- Understanding of machine connectivity, communication protocols, data management, and business analytics.
- Experience working with Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.
- No relocation provided - candidate must reside within 80km of the Airdrie, AB site.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of IT infrastructure & system integration.
- Proficient with computer and software tools - including advanced Excel capabilities (pivots, macros, etc.), MS-Project, Minitab, SQL, and Python
- Experience in controls engineering, programming, additive manufacturing, big data & analytics.
- Knowledge/Experience with setup of Kepware OPC system (optional).
