Eaton's EPG CHD EP Americas division is currently seeking a Assembler II. The core hours are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. The hourly rate for this position is 17.93 per hour.

What you'll do:

Assemble various industrial lighting fixtures and components by performing various tasks in a work cell. Follow production schedules as directed by supervisor or lead personnel and work from sample fixtures. Handle and move parts from skids and pans to work bench, channels, ends, etc., changing methods or procedures only when directed. Assist material handler in obtaining parts as necessary. Perform individual quality inspection throughout the assembly process, marking and setting aside parts which have obvious defects and informing supervisor and/or set-up personnel.

  • Set up work cells, prep housing and frames from schedules, bill of materials, blueprints and instructions.
  • Read and follow production order and wiring diagram for the product being produced, test electric wire and terminal connections for mechanical strength and electrical continuity in assembly.
  • Confirm Shop Order in SAP, complete proper paper work for checklist and maintain production hour by hour boards and productivity graphs.
  • Pack, label and include instructions on all finished jobs.
  • Operate wiring machines both Rivet Machines and sub assemble FEPR's and ZonePro's in Potting room
  • Determine non-conforming material coming from other departments.
  • Operate and adjust tools, gauges, use hand and power tools, pallet jack, fixed gauges, jigs.
  • Perform Minor preventative maintenance (cleaning, oiling, etc.)
  • Perform operational checks as required, visually check work to maintain quality standards and notify supervisor of recurring defects and operating difficulties.
  • Work closely with material handler to receive and organize all necessary equipment for current job.
  • Assemble or attach a number of electrical, mechanical and electronic parts, components provided in work cell where sequences of operations are clearly prescribed and manage product change overs.
  • Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition satisfactory to 5s guidelines.
  • Perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Train lower level operators.

Qualifications:

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing setting or equivalent.
  • Must be able to work in the United States on a continuous basis without sponsorship
  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate area of Houston (50 miles) will be considered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience manufacturing electrical components.
  • Experience with electrical testing
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • SAP knowledge

Skills:

  • Ability to read and write English
  • Computer experience

Position Criteria:

  • Standing for long periods of time (8+ hours/day)
  • Must be able to work in all assembly work stations
  • Must be able to regularly lift, pull, and push up to 35 lbs. Occasionally lift more than 35 lbs. with assistance.
  • Frequent bending and squatting.
  • Must be able to work with small parts and connectors.
