Eaton's Industrial Controls Division is currently seeking an Application Engineering Manager. This position can be based at our Menomonee Falls, WI, Moon Township, PA, Beachwood, OH location or can be based remotely from a home office. Relocation assistance will be provided to candidates currently residing within the US/PR.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $105000.03 - $154000.04 a year.

With the recent launch of our PowerXL DX1 drive, it's never been a more exciting time to join one of the fastest growing businesses in Eaton! We're looking for our next Application Engineering Manager to help lead our Industrial Controls Division on its path to growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage and inspire our application engineering team, with a focus on variable frequency drives as well as other motor control applications. Key responsibilities include relationship building and engagement with our network of field-based application engineers, sales managers, Technical Resource Center (TRC) experts, and division engineers while creating/delivering training, enhancing support capabilities, developing innovative demos, and building customer loyalty. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be involved with front-end innovative solutions to help grow and develop assigned product lines.
  • Leading a team of Application Engineers to achieve business goals and objectives, manage escalations, report on KPI's, develop team members, and develop strong relationships with our field-based organization.
  • Lead the development of standard application solutions for the PowerXL VFD platform specific to customer's application needs.
  • Review customer's specifications and applications requirements and promote appropriate product line from Eaton's VFD portfolio.
  • Coordinate and curate technical enablement in partnership with training manager to help lower barriers for business.
  • Innovate solutions within our key industry segments to enable customer success.
  • Develop, maintain, and promote knowledgebase documents, application notes, to ensure a strong ecosystem of channel and customer support.
  • Develop, coordinate and conduct internal and external training classes on VFD applications.
  • Cultivate internal talent through professional development and grow subject matter expertise in key competitive segments.
  • Lead the ICD's NAS AE Council and maintain/build a strong talent pipeline into the organization.
  • Supporting marketing in the development of product requirements for new product development.
  • Test new product / product enhancement software prior to launch and ensure customer usability.
  • Provide Tier-3 level product technical support to our TRC (Technical Resource Center) organization.
  • Work closely with customers and Field Service organization to understand on-site product / system issues and resolve them by working closely with R&D team.
  • Coordinate and direct the travel of yourself and team members to customer sites to participate in technical investigations as needed.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering and/or sales experience working with industrial customers and/or OEMs
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 2 years direct experience as an application engineer, field service engineer, or solution architect
  • 2 years experience managing people
  • 5 years combined experience working with VFD products in a technical or commercial capacity

Position Criteria:

  • Excellent communication, problem solving, strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as lead, motivate, and adapt management style
  • Ability to build, manage, and maintain customer relationships
  • Promotes a positive and collaborative team environment focused on collective success
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring schematics and specifications
  • Ability to train, be certified, and work with low voltage electrical equipment as needed
  • Ability to demonstrate working electrical knowledge in VFD's, motors, PLCs, and communication protocols
  • Ability to support general purpose HVAC/R, Pump and Material Handling Applications
  • Ability to support high performance, precision speed/torque/position control applications such as winders/unwinders, cranes, hoists and process lines
  • Ability to travel 30-40% (less for the candidate located at the Menomonee Falls, HQ location)
