What you'll do:

The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in a manufacturing environment and demonstrate a robust understanding of advanced manufacturing tools. They should be adept at learning swiftly and thriving in a fast-paced setting and be able to manage projects from design to implementation stage including hands-on testing and troubleshooting.
The ability to communicate effectively with both office staff and production employees, while influencing continuous improvement in the site's manufacturing processes, is essential.
The candidate should also be willing to maintain thorough documentation of manufacturing procedures and processes and be dedicated to keeping abreast of the latest advancements in manufacturing technologies and methodologies.
The candidate should also be aligned with Eaton's values, including maintaining a safety-first mindset and valuing inclusion and diversity.

Leading the deployment of Industry 4.0 tools across the Milton manufacturing sites.

Process Optimization: Analyze current manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement. Develop and implement optimized workflows and protocols to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and lower operational costs.
Technology Integration: Lead efforts to integrate advanced technologies such as sensors, robotics, IoT, communication protocols, and AI into manufacturing operations. Design and implement predictive maintenance strategies to anticipate equipment failures and minimize downtime.
Machine Connectivity: Manage and oversee machine connectivity efforts, including the setup, configuration, and maintenance of connected devices and systems. Act as the main point of contact for OT connectivity on-site, ensuring reliable data transmission and effective communication between machines and systems.
Data Collection and Analysis: Implement and maintain systems for collecting, processing, and analyzing production data. Use data insights to drive continuous improvement initiatives, troubleshoot issues, and make informed decisions to enhance manufacturing performance.
Vendor Collaboration: Engage with vendors and suppliers to evaluate and integrate new technologies, tools, or machinery into the production environment.
Industry Engagement: Stay actively involved in industry conferences, events, and professional networks to keep up with trends and advancements in manufacturing technology. Apply industry knowledge to drive innovation and maintain competitive edge.
Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge in advanced manufacturing technologies and methodologies. Mentor junior engineers and specialists to foster a culture of continuous learning and growth.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure all manufacturing processes and practices comply with relevant safety regulations and industry standards. Promote a safe working environment and implement measures to prevent accidents and injuries.
Project Management: Plan, execute, and oversee projects aimed at developing new manufacturing processes or enhancing existing ones. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. Coordinate cross-functional teams and manage project resources effectively.
Collaboration: Foster collaboration with engineering, design, and production teams to ensure seamless integration of new technologies into manufacturing processes. Provide technical guidance and support to team members and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

• College diploma or university degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Advance Manufacturing, Automation & Controls, or a related field.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing, automation and/or IT project development.

• Experience working with Power BI, Power Apps, and/ or Power Automate.

• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship now or in the future.

• Only candidates residing within an 80 km radius of Milton will be considered for this position. No moving (relocation) is offered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in machine controls, sensors, motors, programming, data extraction and analytics.

• Experience in sheet metal industry (Punching, Laser cutting, forming)

• Experience integrating industrial automated euqipment or software that interfaces to the equipment

• Experience with software codes (Python, C++, or other)

Skills:

• Proficient in advanced manufacturing technologies, Industry 4.0. (e.g. Machines connectivity, Predictive maintenance, IoT).

• Strong knowledge of automation circuits and power systems.

• Coding; Ability to write scripts for automating tasks, streamlining workflows, or integrating data systems

• Understanding of machine connectivity, communication protocols, data management, and business analytics.

• Understanding of IT/OT infrastructure & system integration.

• Proficient with computer and software tools - including advanced Excel capabilities (pivots, macros, etc.), MS-Project, Minitab, SQL, and at least one programming language.

• Willingness to spend time on the production floor, utilizing tools and performing production tasks in order to learn and train others.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with office and production, technical and non-technical colleagues.
