Position Summary:
We're on a mission to reinvent the financial system and make it work for people. We are looking for an experienced professional to lead a full stack engineering team comprising backend and mobile engineers. While we are based out of our Headquarters in Palo Alto, CA, we welcome our employees to “work from anywhere”. Currently, we are considering candidates across the US and Canada.
Our current team is largely composed of experienced, senior engineers who are excellent mentors. Many of them have worked in elite tech giants such as Meta, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Google, Uber, Dropbox, etc.
As an Engineering Manager for our card team, you will work cross functionally with various teams and will have the opportunity to contribute to the design and development of our backend services and mobile applications. Come make a difference with us and have fun doing it!
This is a remote position. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $140,000 - $260,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
What You'll Do:
- Work with the leadership across Earnin to deliver our mission: build a financial system that works for everyday people.
- Be a strong partner to product and other engineering teams to drive improvements to business metrics and build new features. Examples include improving user acquisition metrics, cross and upsell products and improving user experience
- Create a roadmap and drive its implementation with your team across the company.
- Dig into the code when required! You should be technical enough to help your team with issues requiring senior guidance.
- Recruit other great engineers for your team and help in the recruiting efforts for other teams.
- Be a mentor and coach for the engineers in your team and help them advance their careers by enabling them to do the best work of their lives.
- Provide technical leadership to developers in your team and the engineering organization.
- Manage cross-functional relationships with all teams to deliver high quality products.
- Support the team in maintaining a robust level of stability while continuing to execute at great speeds.
- Contribute to engineering wide initiatives at Earnin.
What We're Looking For:
- You have managed a team of 4 or more engineers that regularly created high quality output on top of critical infrastructure.
- You are a creative, tenacious problem solver with a get-it-done attitude.
- You have the ability to work comfortably with a cross functional team made up of PMs, Analysts, and both mobile and back-end-focused engineers.
- You tend to be the standard bearer who takes a great deal of pride in your work and can inspire others to rise to the occasion.
- You are able to create and maintain a positive, healthy team environment in which everyone is supported, encouraged, and are meaningfully challenged doing great work.
- You are a software engineer who became a manager because you are great with people and you want to expand what you can achieve while helping others grow in their careers.
- You are ready to roll up your sleeves and get to work on technical challenges.
