The impact you will have in this role:

Being a member of the European Tax team , the Tax Associate (EMEA) will primarily be responsible for the preparation of the UK and European Indirect Tax compliance and support the EMEA Associate Director. This will include preparing and assisting with all necessary VAT, GST, and EC Sales Lists returns. There will be an expectation to assist other taxes, such as Corporate Income tax, Withholding Tax, Transfer Pricing. Experience in these areas is preferable but not required. The EMEA regional tax team is part of the wider NY based Global tax team covering the tax affairs for more than 40 entities in 17 countries, spanning EMEA, the Americas and APAC regions. This role has significant interaction with the NY based US/Global Tax team as well as the APAC regional tax team.

The role acts as the point of escalation for both internal & external stakeholders, collaborates across different DTCC business lines through building rapport and develop relationships with internal and external partners. The role requires strong understanding of DTCC business and must demonstrate ownership of and accountability for client Support for DTCC Services.

Your Primary Responsibilities:
  • Accurate and timely preparation and filing of the UK and EU VAT returns, EC Sales List, annual returns and any other compliance requirements. This includes analyzing accounting GL details, preparation of VAT return journals, quarterly reconciliation of VAT accounts and prompt payment to the relevant tax authorities.
  • Assist Accounts Receivable/Payable on the correct VAT treatment of our products and invoicing requirements and provide VAT advice (with the support of tax team) to internal stakeholders across the businesses. Escalate issues where appropriate
  • Work closely with the Global Tax Team, Financial Operations, Financial Reporting & Accounting
  • Keep up to date on VAT case law decisions, changes to VAT legislation and awareness that may affect DTCC operations. Assist in carrying out research on various tax topics.
  • Where required, assist with the preparation of corporate tax matters, including but not limited to the preparation of tax returns, tax provisions, CbCR reporting, R&D claims.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience

Talents Needed For Success:
  • Minimum of 3 years of related VAT experience in Big 4 or industry (Financial Industry experience preferable but not a must)
  • Indirect tax specialist either ACCA, ACA, or CTA qualified;
  • Strong VAT compliance skills
  • Working and good knowledge of UK, EU and non-EU VAT in both a compliance and advisory capacity
  • High proficiency in MS Excel
