The impact you will have in this role:
As a member of DTCC General Counsel's Office and reporting to the Head of Legal - EMEA, the Paralegal will be a member of the DTCC General Counsel's Office, located in the London office, with responsibility for providing legal support to DTCC's businesses in EMEA. The core of the activities will focus on providing independent support to the DTCC GTR trade repositories in the UK and EU. This will involve working closely with colleagues and stakeholders throughout the organization, locally and globally. We are looking for a paralegal with the ability to perform legal research and analysis to a high standard, apply critical and analytical thinking, excellent communication skills and attention to detail in order to capably assist EMEA Legal with complex tasks and provide optimum solutions to our internal and external clients.
What You'll Do
- Provide accurate, timely and practical support to the business on a wide range of straight-forward legal and regulatory topics under English and European Union law, particularly in connection with the DTCC GTR trade repositories, covering client onboarding and day-to-day management of issues (such as implementing name changes and corporate restructurings);
- Analyse issues and make recommendations to the lawyer assigned to supervise the matter;
- Research and respond to questions from internal stakeholders and clients under the supervision of a senior lawyer following review of any guidance and documentation provided, including drafting clear and concise responses explaining the legal reasoning when necessary;
- Mitigate risk by following established procedures, spotting key errors and demonstrating strong ethical behaviour;
- Assist with the preparation of contracts and other legal documents or presentation material;
- Collect, compile, file and organize legal documentation;
- Act as a liaison (e.g. scheduling meetings, taking notes, sharing information, organising events);
- Assist on ad-hoc projects assigned from time to time by the EMEA Head of Legal;
- Perform other similar or related duties which may not be specifically included within this job description, but which are consistent with the general level of the position and the responsibilities described.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience within the financial services industry, including a law firm with a focus on financial services work;
- UK qualifying Law Degree or Non-Law Degree and completed GDL/CPE or equivalent (at least 2:1 or equivalent preferred);
- Ideally, completed LPC or BTC or equivalent.
Talents Needed For Success:
- Within the introductory period, ability to gain a working knowledge of corporate structures and responsibilities;
- Strong problem identification, analysis and evaluation skills;
- Effective communication and presentation skills;
- Ideally, basic understanding of fund structures (UCITS, AIFMD; the role of the fund management company versus the investment manager);
- Ideally, fluency in a second European language.
