The impact you will have in this role:
Being a member of the Information Technology group the Executive Director of Engineering - Enterprise Observability & Capacity, you will be a key strategic leader responsible for driving our organization's observability, alerting, and monitoring initiatives. You will play a meaningful role in enhancing our technology infrastructure's reliability, performance, and scalability, while ensuring detailed real-time insight into our systems and applications. This is a large organization that spans across all DTCC global locations, and the Executive Director will establish and implement a clear strategy that supports and advances DTCC's IT strategy, business goals and objectives. This role is instrumental to providing these services for all of IT and has responsibility that are integral to DTCCs ability to safely maintain its critical systems. This leader must collaborate among all departments in IT, therefore strong working relationships are required among senior leaders and technology practitioners.

Your Primary Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define the observability, alerting, and monitoring vision, strategies, and long-term goals, aligned with the company's overall objectives.
  • Lead and mentor an impactful team of observability and monitoring experts, fostering and encouraging a collaborative and innovative environment where team members can thrive and grow.
  • Partner with our Enterprise Architecture team to Develop and implement a comprehensive observability architecture that incorporates industry standard methodologies, ensuring the efficient collection, processing, and analysis of telemetry data from various systems and applications.
  • Establish robust alerting mechanisms and incident response workflows to proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve potential issues before they advance, reducing downtime and improving service reliability.
  • Evaluate, select, and implement powerful monitoring tools and technologies to continuously improve the observability ecosystem, enabling data-driven decision-making and actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and infrastructure, to optimize system performance and responsiveness, delivering an outstanding user experience.
  • Ensure observability and monitoring practices align with industry standards and regulatory requirements while maintaining the highest levels of data security and privacy.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, driving regular reviews and assessments of observability and monitoring strategies to identify areas for improvement and scalability.
  • Be responsible for budget planning and resource allocation for the observability and monitoring team, ensuring cost-effectiveness and ROI on technology investments.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and advancements in observability, alerting, and monitoring practices, and apply relevant innovations to improve the organization's technology capabilities.
  • Work with Vendors to review and select the latest technologies to be implemented and handle those relationships and service levels.
  • Develop and demonstrate a strong understanding of each business division's strategy and product offerings.
  • Create effective working relationships with senior business, technology and control group leadership.
  • Understand and appreciate DTCC's Regulatory responsibility.
  • Minimize complexity and help modernize our observability landscape.
  • Encourage staff to demonstrate commitment to customer service and teamwork. Sets related performance standards and ensures that exceptional performance is appropriately recognized.
  • Ensure staff is well informed on company initiatives; maintain an environment of openness and trust and demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Establish departmental goals and supervise progress through to completion ensuring that all commitments and service levels are met.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 15 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's or Masters degree preferred or equivalent experience

Talents Needed for Success:
  • A passion for redefining how organizations deliver technology more effectively to the business.
  • Experience delivering IT systems within sophisticated organizations, including roles of testing, delivery management and production management.
  • Experience of working with or within financial services organizations would be highly useful but is not crucial for this position.
