We are adding a Senior Manager, Health, Safety & Wellbeing to our team based out of our regional office in London . This is a hybrid role with travel possible up to 20% of the year throughout the company's workplace portfolio - 55 sites across 30 countries - spanning the Americas, EMEA and APAC regions.

Reporting to the global lead for Workplace Safety & Security, this EMEA-based role will provide global coverage working closely with departmental colleagues, operations managers and other key stakeholders to deliver risk-oriented health, safety & wellbeing (HSW) capability. A dedicated individual with domain expertise, relevant skills and knowledge will be successful and have an opportunity to contribute and grow.

About Global Risk, Security & Resilience
The Global Risk, Security and Resilience team is responsible for managing the company's operational risks and advising the business on other commercial, strategic or reputational challenges that may arise. With functions covering audits & investigations, business resilience (incident & crisis management, business continuity), digital risk, event security, global operations & insights, health, safety & wellness, high risk & newsroom safety and workplace security, the department covers a diverse technical portfolio leveraged to ensure risks are reasonable managed, security threats addressed and disruptions limited in support of Dow Jones' strategic goals.
You Will
- Work with colleagues in Global Risk, Security & Resilience (GRSR) to ensure relevant current and emerging risks to HSW are effectively identified, assessed, communicated, and mitigated.
- Forge exceptional relationships with people across the company. Provide a source of sound judgement, advice and counsel to staff, contractors and decision makers on risk and HSW challenges.
- Contribute proactively or when engaged to relevant best practices adopted by our team - plan and process improvement, risk mitigation and responding to new challenges.
- Plan the governance, management, engagement and continual improvement of HSW practices at all levels and across a global footprint. This involves playing a central role coordinating wellbeing-focused programs within the business.
- Agree to and maintain useful monitoring, metrics, KPIs, analysis and reporting for the HSW function inclusive of insurer engagement.
- Identify proportionate levels of resources (financial, physical, vendor) for the HSW function in partnership with other teams, balancing risk against commercial sustainability, and within the budget process.
- Work with compliance, sourcing, human resources, workplace (real estate, facilities) and regional risk & security managers to ensure HSW obligations and practices are understood and fulfilled, including training, coaching, external reporting (specifically to OSHA and other national health and safety agencies, where required) and advising colleagues.
- Provide professional and credible specialist HSW advice to support industrial operations (print plants), content production (filming, online content, studios), events (onsite and external), property management and routine office working.
- Investigate accidents and review associated reports, making recommendations where appropriate, and ensure statutory reports are filed with the relevant authorities and incident root causes are addressed.
- Be a key contributor to the company's mental health strategy.
You Are
- Experienced successfully applying risk management and health, safety and wellbeing solutions - particularly familiar with the realities of creating, implementing and overseeing a compliant international safety management system inclusive of contractors and outsourced services.
- Capable of actively contributing to holistic wellbeing-focused initiatives in a large organization.
- A capable communicator - able to brief and influence effectively and translate complex technical concepts into understandable terms. Careful information sharing is critical as is tailoring your communications style for various audiences - people across time zones and from different cultures and backgrounds.
- Able to independently prioritize and multi-task communication, coordination, research and operational/programmatic planning and design, implementation and management.
- A mission-focused approach committed to professional excellence, willing to handle a sometimes irregular schedule and dive into ambiguous and challenging situations.
- A critical thinker with sound decision making skills and the ability to understand complex situations and provide unique solutions proportionate to risk.
- Experienced successfully handling incidents and emergency situations - from identification and support to review and analysis. This includes communicating with leaders and working with all stakeholders to ensure business resilience and claim management (insurers, compliance managers, legal resources).
You Have
- H&S/HSW experience in a relevant sector with technical leadership and/or management position.
- Bachelor of Science in Occupational H&S, Nebosh International Diploma, or equivalent degree.
- Ideally, chartered membership with the Institute of Safety and Health (IOSH)
Preferred Qualities
- A background working in a media organization supporting print operations and newsgathering/production is desired, but not necessary.
- An understanding of the operational, safety and wellbeing issues associated with challenging situations and austere or less-developed environments and experiences.
- Strong commercial acumen.
