About the Team:

Our Technology team drives the evolution of our Technology, Engineering, Data,

Product and User Experience functions. With a keen focus on delivering cutting-edge solutions, we shape the digital landscape for our customers, readers, and users. From revolutionizing visuals to optimizing tools and harnessing the power of data, mobile, video, and social platforms, our team is committed to providing a seamless and immersive experience across all touchpoints. Collaborating closely with our newsrooms and strategic partners, we spearhead the development of groundbreaking products and technologies.

Responsibilities:
  • Understands and practices agile software development and management
  • Defines and implements application architecture models and programming standards with direction setting support.
  • Design and implement the developers', testing, application monitoring/control, change management and implementation.
  • Defines application development standards for designing, building and maintaining applications, application components, and common services including the recommended use of languages and tools.
  • Partners effectively with product to manage scope and deliverables for the technical side of the product roadmap
  • Able to identify areas of strategic technical debt and provide cost/benefit analysis for eliminating this debt and suggested timelines for how to prioritize it

Core requirements:
  • Excellent verbal & written skills to interact, build and maintain effective relationships with peers. This also includes communication channels like email, chat, scrum boards, wiki pages etc.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and programming skills, with high responsibility and care for the details
  • Ability to identify and isolate problem areas within the entire application flow and to investigate the root cause and implement solutions.
  • Self-organized, working well independently and in a geographically diverse team environment.
  • Initiative person with a positive mindset, creative thinking, adaptive to workflow changes and with a strive to keep their expertise up-to-date
  • Ability to design a good architecture for a new project as well as migration of legacy projects to new architecture. Produce and maintain proper documentation.
  • Ability to identify tech debts and code smells while working on a project and to take steps to reduce them.

Required Skills/Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in Front End development
  • Expert knowledge of the latest version of ReactJS, including the use of hooks and new features in React 18
  • Expert knowledge of HTML best practices, including semantic HTML and writing accessible markup
  • Expert knowledge of CSS, including vanilla CSS and writing CSS systems
  • Familiar with Webpack, Babel, npm, and GitHub
  • Experience with CSS-in-JS
  • Experience with component libraries or design systems
  • Experience with Storybook
  • Experience with Accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA standards)
