Assistant Editor

New York, NY

The Wall Street Journal is looking for an assistant editor to join its award-winning Off Duty section, a luxury lifestyle section that offers readers winning strategies when it comes to mastering (and investing in) fashion, travel, food and drink, interior design and cars, and is published on all WSJ platforms, print and digital. This person will take on a wide range of administrative and journalistic duties and also assist in digital publishing/strategy and social media. The ideal candidate will be someone with strong problem-solving skills, extremely meticulous and organized, with a passion for lifestyle subject areas, particularly food, design and travel.

This is an entry-level opportunity to join a team of highly skilled, sophisticated lifestyle editors who produce richly visual, witty and problem-solving stories that readers rely on as a complement to WSJ's core business coverage. You will have a front-row seat to absorb how such stories come together from concept to visual brainstorming to the photo shoots in our in-house photo studio to the print design and digital production, and the back-end analysis of data related to the stories' digital performance. Though this is not a writing position, a successful candidate with unusually strong writing and reporting skills will have opportunities to pitch and execute stories.
