This is initially a one year contract, with the potential to be extended.
About the Role
We are seeking a Manager of Policy and Government Relations to lead our policy efforts in Australia and New Zealand. In this role, you will execute our ambitious policy agenda, implement comprehensive government relations strategies, coordinate grassroots advocacy, and build a diverse coalition of third party stakeholders to further our public policy objectives. In addition to having a passion for policy and a thorough understanding of the political and regulatory environment in Australia, candidates must possess excellent communication skills. Demonstrated experience working at the nexus of business and politics, well-established relationships with political bodies and decision-makers, and the determination to represent the company in trade associations and relevant fora are also essential. You will work closely with internal teams, including Legal, Strategy & Operations, Communications, and Marketing, as well as external partners like government officials, industry peers, trade groups and community organisations. You will report to the Head of Policy & Government Relations.

- Design and implement paid policy campaigns and innovative engagement strategies, including social impact programs.
- Lead DoorDash's outreach to our broad and diverse community along the Australia and New Zealand regions, including Dashers, small businesses, customers, and third-party organisations to further our public policy objectives.
- Engage and liaise with industry peers on policy and public engagement issues facing the Australia and New Zealand regions
- Collaborate with policy development leads to craft policy solutions that serve business needs while serving our community and meeting political realities.
We're excited about you because...
- You have a good understanding of government relations, including in implementing regulatory and public policy positions and strategies, grassroots organising, and the mechanics of policymaking.
- You are a seasoned organiser with a proven track record in political campaigns, corporate organising, or experience in an elected official's office.
- You have a proven ability to achieve ambitious policy outcomes.
- You have 5+ years working experience in the field of public policy or government relations.
- You possess strong communication skills, effective in various settings, including one-on-one, group, and town hall-style meetings.
- You have experience building and sustaining relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external.
