The Finance & IT function works to accelerate business growth through ensuring that the company's operations run efficiently and effectively, ultimately enabling the achievement of company goals.

Are you ready to leverage your accounting expertise in a dynamic role? As the Technical Accounting Manager at Dolby, you will report to the Chief Accounting Officer and work closely with the Finance team, gaining a deep understanding of our business operations. You will have exposure to Accounting Operations, implementing complex accounting practices, and actively reviewing SEC filings to ensure compliance.

In this pivotal position, you will lead US GAAP technical accounting projects, ensuring compliance through thorough research and documentation. You will oversee and manage accounting policies, ensuring they reflect US GAAP standards and cover all aspects of our vibrant business.

In this role you will:
  • Research authoritative literature and provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions such as acquisitions, contractual agreements, leases, restructuring, and impairments
  • Provide technical accounting guidance for business acquisitions through active participation on due diligence teams as well as provide oversight of purchase price allocation and valuation of identifiable intangible assets
  • Prepare/review high quality technical accounting memos on all key technical accounting matters
  • Frequently interact with external auditors in evaluating technical accounting positions
  • Prepare SAB99 quantitative and qualitative analyses
  • Perform annual and as-needed goodwill and intangible impairment analyses
  • Evaluate applicability of new accounting literature to Dolby
  • Draft and periodically update accounting policies
  • Manage and act as liaison in Company-wide initiatives and cross-functional projects to ensure U.S. GAAP compliance
  • Develop and maintain effective internal controls for significant non-routine transactions
  • Assist SEC Reporting team with complex regulatory reporting matters as needed
Skills and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive experience is required; Big-4 experience is a plus
  • Aptitude for technical accounting research
  • Experience working with modern software and systems, SAP and Workiva are a plus
  • Self-motivated team player with a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Exceptional communication skills, including an ability to listen to the needs of the business, research and comprehend complex matters, and articulate issues in a clear and simplified manner to non-Finance audiences
  • Ability to lead, organize, and manage projects beginning to end that require coordinated efforts across multiple functions (e.g., Accounting, Tax, Finance, Treasury, Legal, Operations, IT, Internal Audit, and valuation firms)

The San Francisco/Bay Area base salary range for this full-time position is $131,100 - $157,700 , which can vary if outside this location,plus bonus, benefits, and some roles may also include equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range and perks and benefits for your location during the hiring process.
