Dolby's consumer entertainment and cinema businesses are bringing Dolby's breakthrough technologies, powering the world's top movies, TV shows, music, games, and live sports to more places around the world across a wider range of consumer experiences and devices.
As a Solutions Engineer focused on video, you will learn how to demonstrate the value of Dolby's imaging technologies to our platform partners which include streaming services, Pay-TV operators and broadcasters, while supporting them in integrating Dolby technologies into their end-to-end workflows, from acquisition and production through to delivery to the consumer.
You will play an active role in providing education and integration support to Dolby partners and help troubleshoot and resolve issues identified in the field. You will be the technical liaison between the customers and Dolby's internal engineering, development and research teams.
Essential Job Functions:
- You will work with recognized Dolby and industry experts to gain deep understandings of the Dolby Ecosystem, from the acquisition of content in the field and on the sound stage, to the delivery of amazing experiences presented on premium quality services to consumers around the world.
- You will work with a team to support platform partners in enabling Dolby Vision and other Dolby imaging technologies in their end-to-end workflows. These partners include streaming services, Pay TV operators and broadcasters.
- You will collaborate with account managers to support pre-sales activities by building and delivering technical demonstrations of existing and new imaging technologies.
- You will help to manage the day-to-day communication of technical issues and customer concerns and pinch points, communicating with Dolby's Engineering teams and following up with partners on outstanding technical issues both internally and externally.
- You will support and work with the playback and devices field applications engineering team to test and enable premium experiences via target devices.
- You will establish and ultimately own technical relationships with contacts at existing and prospective partner companies.
- Domestic travel to US-based customer sites may be required, along with occasional international travel.
- B.S. in Engineering Technology, Electrical, Video, Audio, etc., or equivalent industry experience.
- A basic, foundational understanding of color science and display technology.
- Exposure to CLI tools and an understanding of coding in C and/or C++, and with one or more scripting languages (PERL, Python, BASH, etc.).
- Experience working with streaming technologies and protocols like MPEG-DASH and HLS, and video compression standards like HEVC and AV1.
- Knowledge of end-to-end video workflows for video-on-demand and live broadcast is very desirable.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to understand and explain technical issues to technical and non-technical personnel.
- Comprehensive written and verbal communication skills in English.
- A deep and abiding interest in video production, recording engineering, game/film video, or cinematography is highly desirable.
- A mindset of ownership (aka Gets Things Done); not satisfied with incomplete efforts.
- A self-starter; a willingness to learn new technologies/concepts and proactively look for opportunities to contribute.
