Summary Description
This Field Applications Engineer (FAE) position is video-focused and based in Taipei office, to support PC , PC monitor , and projector system licensees to integrate Dolby's video technologies into their products. This FAE is the technical interface to the customers, who will need to be familiar with Dolby's video specific technologies, providing technical support in both pre-sale and post-sale phases, cooperating with different Dolby teams and customer teams, by following specific processes, to make sure Dolby's technologies are correctly integrated and verified in the target system products. Those supporting activities include t esting of emerging and current technologies, ability to troubleshoot complex software and hardware problems, development of new test techniques and procedures, computer programming skills. Works under general direction. Standard work practices are understood and followed. Exchanges detailed technical information and provides support with internal external customers. Applies discretion and independent judgement to solve problems and make recommendations.

Essential Job Functions
- Customer facing and provide technical support regarding Dolby technology integration and troubleshooting. Representing the company during on-site evaluations.
- Verify licensee products by following tuning/ test procedures, evaluating tuning/ test data, and communicating tuning/ test results to customers.
- Manage the day-to-day communication on technical issues, communicating with Dolby's Tier - 2 support / Engineering worldwide teams and following up on outstanding technical issues both internally and externally with partners .
- Engineering support - hardware and software testing and troubleshooting, data collection and documentation, development/proofing of new test procedures and techniques, demo set-up.
- Support pre-sales activity by delivering technical presentations, demonstrating new products, and promoting the value proposition of Dolby technologies to potential partners .
- Miscellaneous projects (product check-in/disposition, prototype construction, equipment maintenance, test labs organization/maintenance, etc.).
- Domestic travelling to local licensee sites is needed. International travel occasionally is also required.
- B.S. or M.S. in Engineering Technology, Electrical, Video , etc., or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years' experience in electronics technology, preferably video-related on PC , PC monitor, and projector products , including hands-on experience in troubleshooting electronics circuitry and devices.
- Experience with C/C++ and automation script such as Python is preferred.
- Video codecs, video post-processing fundamentals, and video transmission related protocols.
- Familiarity with tools and methods for electrical tests, software tests, and panel measurements.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving abilities when working on complex problems .
- Ability to understand and explain technical issues to technical and non-technical person .
- Comprehensive written and verbal communication skills in English
- Demonstrated skills using word processing, spreadsheet and video editing software.
- With experience in the picture/video quality tuning is a plus.
- Experience or knowledge of "audio" technology is a big plus.
