The Advanced Technology Group (ATG) is the research division of the company. ATG's mission is to look ahead, deliver insights, and innovate technological solutions that will fuel Dolby's continued growth. Our researchers have a broad range of expertise related to computer science and electrical engineering, such as AI/ML, algorithms, digital signal processing, audio engineering, image processing, computer vision, data science & analytics, distributed systems, cloud, edge & mobile computing, computer networking, and IoT.
The Big Idea Innovation organization within ATG aims at diversifying Dolby's portfolio by developing new technology, products, and user experiences. We have a rigorous innovation pipeline where ideas go through an iterative design, prototyping, and validation process. Our focus in Big Idea Innovation team is to generate new high potential opportunities for Dolby. Our job is to disrupt, to provoke thoughts, and to spark conversations by challenging the established practices and thinking differently. Our team owns the process that takes in and prioritizes both top-down and bottom-up ideas.
What you'll do
We are seeking an experienced, business-savvy professional to join our Big Idea Innovation team and serve as a key driver in evaluating and shaping new ideas from a commercial perspective. In this role, you will leverage your deep knowledge of business development, go-to-market strategies, industry trends, and product-market fit to guide innovative concepts from inception to impactful market opportunities.
To be effective in this role you need an ongoing interest in technology, industry, and market trends. As a key member of the ATG Big Idea Innovation team, you will contribute to evolving and leading the innovation process in Dolby through close collaboration with multiple organizations. A priority for the role is to support project teams to qualify and develop ideas with a large market opportunity and strong industry fit and ideate about go-to-market strategies.
K ey responsibilities are:
- Market Assessment & Validation : Conduct in-depth market sizing, competitive analyses, and trend evaluations to identify business opportunities and risks.
- Product-Market Fit : Work closely with R&D and product teams to refine concepts, ensuring alignment with customer needs and potential market demand.
- Go-to-Market Strategy : Develop comprehensive strategies that outline launch plans, target segments, pricing models, and distribution channels.
- Business Development & Partnerships : Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships, alliances, and collaborations to accelerate market entry or expansion.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration : Partner with research, design, business, marketing, and executive teams to align product vision and execution with overall business goals.
- Innovation Pipeline Management : Continuously evaluate emerging trends, new technologies, and disruptive opportunities to keep the innovation pipeline robust and competitive.
- Product Management : You might be asked to play a product manager role for early stages of innovation projects and:
- Identify high value demos to build to demonstrate the idea.
- Present demos to key external partners and internal stakeholders.
- Analyze feedback and identify next steps of iteration.
- Work with cross functional stakeholders to create alignment across the organization around specific innovation projects.
- Education : MBA preferred (or relevant Master's degree in Business, Strategy, or a related field).
- Experience : 8+ years of experience in a tech-oriented business role (e.g., product management, business development, strategy consulting).
- Strategic Mindset : Track record of developing and executing go-to-market strategies in fast-paced or emerging technology sectors.
- Entrepreneurial Drive : Self-starter mentality with a passion for innovation and a knack for spotting opportunities in emerging markets.
- Analytical Skills : Proven ability to conduct market sizing, trend analyses, and financial modeling, producing actionable insights for decision-making.
- Technical Familiarity : Comfort working with technical teams and technologies such as AI/ML, cloud, edge computing, or related domains. ( Prior experience with technology startups is highly desirable).
- Collaboration & Influence : Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders across technical, design, business, marketing, and executive levels.
