The Commerce, Growth & Identity (CGI) team is dedicated to three business-critical areas at Disney that will help transform its media business. They create seamless user experiences for consumers who can choose from a wide range of subscription plans, enabling more choice and flexibility. The CGI team is also focused on building innovative and cutting-edge capabilities that will drive subscriptions, engagement, and monetization across Disney’s streaming and digital products.

We are seeking a talented and dedicated Senior Software Engineer to join our Payment team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team that manages the payment transactions of millions of customers across our celebrated platforms - Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu, and the upcoming Star.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage crucial payment systems and play an integral role in our multi-tenant system that processes payments, ensuring it remains highly available, scalable, and resilient. 

  • Influence technical direction as a member of our fast-paced and rapidly growing team, your expertise will help shape the technical architecture and direction of our Tier 1 services. 

  • Explore international payment landscapes and gain insights into global payment challenges and strategies, as we expand our streaming services worldwide. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in functional programming with Scala

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.  

  • Minimum of 5 of years related work experience

  • Proven ability in designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems, showcasing your technical depth and problem-solving skills.

  • Familiarity with AWS products and services (including EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, RDS, ElastiCache, CloudFront, etc.), or experience with other cloud platforms, demonstrating your adaptability in cloud environments.

  • In-depth experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, underscoring your ability to manage and manipulate data effectively.

  • A history of successfully taking ownership of features/functionality and delivering end-to-end projects with high quality and robust architecture, reflecting your dedication and attention to detail.

  • Exceptional social skills with a proven track record of working effectively with multi-functional business partners, highlighting your team-oriented mindset.

  • The capability to delve into any technical component, coupled with an understanding of the overall system architecture, demonstrating your comprehensive approach to technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with distributed teams

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY and Seattle, WA is $145,400 to $195,000 per year, in San Francisco, CA is $152,100 to $203,900 per year and in Los Angeles, CA is $138,900 to $186,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
