As Senior Manager, Strategic Planning you and your team will be responsible for shaping the long-term financial plans for franchises, programs and emerging new initiatives to maximize growth and profitability. You will analyze historical data, market trends, guest insight and detailed knowledge of the Parks & Resorts and Disney Cruise Line retail portfolio to develop scenario models to provide comprehensive benchmarks, direction on grow/maintain/decline and future opportunities. The Senior Manager, Strategic Planning demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of all financial key performance indicators and has the ability to influence their team and the broader organization.

You will report to our Director, Retail Strategic Planning

What You Will Do

Every day in this role is different. On any given day you might:

  • Lead team responsible for the development of long-term financial plans including sales, cost of goods, and inventory turn
  • Drive assortment strategy and requirements for programs or initiatives that identifies opportunities and risk at the site level, including style breadth, product lifecycle and refresh cadence
  • Collaborate with Parks Retail Strategy, Retail Development and Finance to identify executive alignment, bi-annual kickoff, and quarterly forecast guidance requirements  
  • Develop inventory flow recommendations to maximize growth & profitability and limit out of stocks
  • Continuously drive analysis, incorporate product trends, and productivity to inform future plans and assortments
  • Present program and initiative financial plans and strategies in key milestone meetings
  • Proactively anticipate next steps, future opportunities and/or future challenges to financial performance
  • Support director in new system analysis, functionality, roll-out, and sustainment modeling
  • Translate business performance drivers and metrics into insightful analysis and recommendations, influencing organizational decisions
  • Ensure team fluency in tools available to provide business insights
  • Lead cross functional merchandise meetings to meet deliverables throughout the product to market calendar

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 7 years’ experience in merchandise planning, financial analysis and/or strategy development
  • Leadership experience guiding and motivating high-performing teams with an excellent track record of achievement, advancement, and performance
  • Demonstrate strong financial forecasting, analytical, and communication skills to translate complex business performance drivers and metrics into insightful analyses and recommendations for senior leaders
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.  Demonstrated ability to influence partners and key business decisions; proven ability to lead teams and build relationships across the company
  • Excellent written communication skills.  Proven ability to synthesize financial information into a concise story and communicate the story to various levels of leadership
  • Strong organizational skills.  Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple priorities and perform job responsibilities accurately while working in a fast-paced and vibrant environment
  • Self-starter with natural curiosity and the ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Ability to work within a complex, matrix organization and find creative solutions
  • Familiarity with retail planning software or systems, computer skills in MS office, especially excel and understanding of business intelligence tools

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, mathematics, or equivalent experience
