The Global Information Security (GIS) group provides services to protect the value and use of Disney’s information through collaboration, standardization, enforcement, and education across The Walt Disney Company. The main focus areas of this group are:
- Reduce the risk of both accidental and malicious data disclosure
- Identify, monitor, engage with complete inventory of information
- Establish appropriate policies and procedures to be followed
- Educate user community to minimize risk
The Director of Product Engineering within the Security Architecture & Engineering team leads team members to streamline delivery, improve quality and reduce costs of support for our cybersecurity solutions. Our North Star is to build and integration cybersecurity solutions that empower our GIS partners and business segments to secure the business thru a consistent SDLC approach and be future ready without stifling teams’ ability to be autonomous. When we do our job accurately, we make it easier to deliver high quality cybersecurity solutions that secure our guests and cast members. In addition, a Director is expected to lead projects, grow leaders, define strategy and inspire change.
This is a leadership role, but we are looking for someone who is an engineer at heart. Willingness to learn new technologies and help improve our organization is critical for success on this team because one day we are integrating a SaaS solution to existing data and reporting systems, the next we are designing and crafting a new product or API endpoint.
Responsibilities:
- Orchestrate the development and management of a high-performing team comprising of managers, product experts, and software engineers.
- Assume executive leadership responsibilities including technical leadership, software engineering, and agile project management.
- Understand requirements, delivering unified solutions, and simplifying product portfolio.
- Lead all aspects of design engineering, automation, and COTS/SaaS product integration efforts.
- Conduct problem analysis, prioritizing customer service, and optimizing processes.
- Champion collaboration among team members to seamlessly integrate expertise across various domains.
- Deliver innovative security solutions tailored to meet evolving industry needs.
- Set the vision and lead the design and engineering of cybersecurity solutions and products for The Walt Disney Company.
- Operate, maintain, and engineer software products with close business segment alignment.
- Ensure efficient, effective, and resilient architectures built on well-defined SDLC processes.
- Document processes and engage partners.
- Perform sprint/release planning and code reviews.
- Assume operational responsibility and sustainment of platforms.
- Engage with customers via support channels on cybersecurity solutions.
- Drive delivery of products and further a business-enabling DevOps culture.
- Lead and work collaboratively with local and remote team member
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 12 years of related work experience
- Experience leading engineering teams responsible for building and deploying custom software products or services
- Experience as a software engineer or in product management
- Experience with on-premises and legacy systems, including COTS servers, storage technologies, and standard Operating Systems (Windows and Linux)
- Experience with CNAPP platforms and technologies
- Proficiency in API definition and integrations
- Expertise in optimizing algorithms and ETL processes
- In-depth knowledge of multi-cloud providers (AWS, Google, Azure) and cloud services such as ECS, RDS, Lambda, Airwatch
- Detailed understanding of core internet protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP(s)
- Strong background in Agile implementation within a software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Familiarity with development technologies such as code repositories, task ticketing, IDEs, pipelines, code analysis, test-driven development, etc.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, SQL, .NET, Go.
- Proficiency with container solutions like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience working with Data platforms like Postgres, MSSQL, Opensearch, Snowflake
- UI development experience using frameworks like Angular, Django, Grafana, etc.
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills, coupled with problem-solving and analytical abilities
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience

The hiring range for this position in California is $184,300.00 - $247,100.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
