Department Summary
DISH Network is seeking a highly skilled and motivated VP of IT Operations & Infrastructure to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the SVP, IT Operations, the VP of IT Operations & Infrastructure will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of DISH IT infrastructure, including network, storage, backup, virtualization, operating systems and cloud connectivity. This leadership role demands a strong technical background, strategic thinking, excellent management skills, and a passion for driving innovation and efficiency within the IT department.

The VP of IT Operations & Infrastructure will also play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of our technology infrastructure to support the company's continued growth and success. This position will set strategic direction for the department, managing budgets/headcount and maintaining a stable and reliable environment. Our ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills to a team of 60+, but will still be a hands-on working leader ensuring effective governance while delivering enterprise solutions in a fiscally responsible manner.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive IT infrastructure strategy aligned with the company's objectives, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
- Assess current infrastructure and identify areas for improvement, growth, and cost optimization.
- Collaborate with other IT leaders and key stakeholders to align infrastructure initiatives with business goals.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company's network infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.
- Implement network security measures to safeguard against potential cyber threats and attacks.
- Monitor network performance and proactively address bottlenecks or issues to maintain optimal network efficiency.
- Lead the management of storage solutions, including storage area networks (SANs) and Network-Attached Storage (NAS) systems.
- Implement robust backup and disaster recovery strategies to protect critical data and ensure business continuity.
- Manage virtualization technologies to maximize server utilization and enhance overall system efficiency.
- Oversee the selection, deployment, and maintenance of various operating systems across the organization's servers, ensuring they are up-to-date and secure.
- Implement best practices for OS management, including patching and updating.
- Lead the setup, configuration, and maintenance of connectivity to cloud service providers, ensuring seamless integration between on-premises infrastructure and cloud environments.
- Optimize cloud connectivity for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Build and lead a high-performing IT infrastructure team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear goals, provide coaching and feedback, and conduct performance evaluations for team members.
- Identify skill gaps and training needs, providing opportunities for professional development.
- Manage the IT infrastructure budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost-effective technology solutions.
- Collaborate with vendors to negotiate contracts, evaluate service level agreements, and ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Degree preferred plus 10+ years of progressive IT Infrastructure and Operations experience
- Proven leadership experience with network architecture, services and cost management
- Track record delivering large-scale enterprise infrastructure projects
- Experience delivering security-focused solutions in partnership with the DISH IT Security team
- Strategic thought leadership for public/private/hybrid cloud architectures
- Experience transforming teams from legacy practices to automation and software-defined models
- Metrics-guided approach to inform decisions and drive efficiencies
- ITIL or similar process knowledge with a track record of implementing operational best practices
- Ability to partner with business teams to align IT actions to business results
- Collaborating with cross-functional business units (CoE, Steering Committee, etc.)
- Working with stakeholders to educate them on the impact of infrastructure decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Project management experience is a plus.

The base pay range provided is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies. Compensation is also based on the role's location and may change depending on the work location. Candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check. The posting will be active for a minimum of 3 days and will continue to extend by 3 days until the position is filled.
