Job Duties and Responsibilities

We are seeking a dynamic Staff Accountant II to join our team, reporting directly to the Head of Fixed Assets and Inventory. In this pivotal role, you will learn and be responsible for all inventory accounting functions for a group that manages over $1B in inventory and equipment through different systems. You will apply your strong data mindset with the ability to manipulate and analyze data, identify variances, and deep dive into data flows to understand the root causes of issues. The position offers opportunities for rotational assignments to gain exposure to various perspectives within the organization, including fixed assets and lease accounting.

Given DISH's foray into the wireless industry, you will play an important role of monitoring inventory transactions and reconciling inventory accounts to the general ledger to support our ambitious 5G initiatives. You will develop inventory analysis reporting and provide meaningful insights for assets management. Anticipating expenditures of approximately $10 billion for our 5G network deployment and significant device purchases, you will be part of the group shaping our financial strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Continuous focus on special projects related to the deployment of equipment for the 5G wireless network
  • Analyze and develop new processes for integrated inventory and asset systems while collaborating with cross-functional groups to develop appropriate transactional flows, reporting, and monitoring for new and existing processes
  • Identify and recommend potential process efficiencies, align competing strategies, and help eliminate redundancies within the business unit; continually seek improvements to current processes
  • Partner with other departments within the wireless organization to ensure efficient and accurate reporting and safeguarding of wireless equipment
  • Create new processes and optimize existing ones to analyze inventory data for accuracy and meet business partner needs
  • Ensure SOX compliance with assigned responsibilities, including updating documentation.
  • Assist with the implementation of inventory accounting systems and inventory control procedures, including testing and documenting installations and upgrades
  • Perform month-end closing activities, as needed, for complex transactions (i.e., journal entries, account analysis, and reconciliations) within the time frame determined by management
  • Participate in rotational assignments to gain exposure to various perspectives and functions within the organization, enhancing overall business understanding and skill development
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned
Skills, Experience and Requirements

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required, with 1-2 years of related accounting experience; degree with data analytics focus desired


Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite required, advanced proficiency with MS Excel including experience with macros, power query and power pivot preferred
  • Knowledge or previous experience with Oracle and OneStream preferred
  • Ability to develop analytical tools, review financial statements, prepare variance analysis, document processes, and work on special projects as assigned
  • Ability to effectively communicate and establish working relationships with other departments and personnel
  • Curiosity and proactive approach to identifying variances and issues within data flows and working with related groups to resolve them
  • Flexibility and willingness to participate in rotational assignments
Salary Ranges

Compensation: $63,150.00/Year - $90,000.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
