Job Duties and Responsibilities
Senior RF Engineer sought by DISH Wireless, LLC in Hartford, CT
Perform RF design activities related to building the first standalone 5G broadband network in the US. Optimize the end-to-end RF design, including propagation modeling and prediction, for deployment of Macro Cell deployment. Determine equipment and power configurations. Work with eNB/RAN and UE teams on RF solutions including modifications to RF link budgets on a per site level basis to meet operations requirements. Perform site candidate evaluation and selection as well as site walks. Work with RF Management to establish design criteria, link budget and traffic analysis as needed for network design and update existing performance parameters for ongoing improvements as required. Coordinate cell site call testing and optimization drive activities and troubleshoot cell site issues to achieve performance targets. Monitor Network Performance and Sites Health on daily basis and make sure Network CDR/CFR are in acceptable ranges. Optimize Network and achieve desired KPIs on the Sites spread across different topology and coverage Environments. Perform Market-wide parameters audits and alignment to improve customer experience and quality of service. Good understanding on 3GPP 5G SA Standards and able to research individually to tackle complex RF Issues in the Markets. Work with National RF Engineering on different Trials and document proper MOPs for Larger audience to implement new Parameter values. Work on unconventional RF solutions (e.g. Small cells, DAS) to serve difficult area like Tunnels, stadiums and busy Downtown areas where standard site designs cannot be deployed. Work on Standardizing Processes, Mops and Presentation to make Day to Day Tasks easy and uniform for Leadership Team.
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Requires Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a closely related field plus 5 years of relevant RF engineering experience in job offered or as RF Engineer II. Also requires 4 years of work experience with/using the following (which may have been gained concurrently):
- Providing RF support to Site Acquisition and Site Construction teams
- Cellular/Mobile Technology including 4G or 5G and NR theory
- Macro and small cell nominal and final RF designs including development, operations, RF KPIs, and maintenance of RF link budgets for 3GPP technologies
- Setting up, calibration, utilization and data processing of various LTE design and optimization equipment and software
- Propagation/planning tools such as Planet or Atoll and model calibrations
- Drive test data post-processing, map generation, frequency planning and interference matrix analysis and site database maintenance using Windcatcher/Actix/Accuver
- Equipment co-location requirements for multiple operators and performing inter-modulation and other external interference analysis
Compensation: $133,616.62/Year
