About the Role
It is our intention to expand and develop our retail management team and we are looking to employ a dynamic, focused, and adaptable Team Leader who wishes to expand and grow professionally. The successful candidate will work within a management team focused on operational excellence and coordinating a large retail team across multiple functions, developing a strong operational knowledge of the business, and engaging with numerous training and development opportunities. Our ideal colleague will be fun, hard-working, and positive with a passion for people management, entrepreneurial and someone who thrives on autonomy, will a demonstrable experience in managing a retail business to great commercial success. High levels of trust and integrity are critical to the role and strict adherence to policies and procedures will ensure a successful career with the Guinness Storehouse.
You will be responsible for:
Retail Operations:
- Managing a large team of individuals to deliver smooth running of the retail store both operationally and in aspired standards of customer experience. Our mission is to deliver a retail experience worthy of the Guinness-brand and to keep pushing the forefront of the industry-standard for excellence.
- Excels in customer service and is able to generate enthusiasm and ability in others for delivering world-class customer service at all times.
- Consciously and passionately acts as a brand ambassador for Guinness.
- Actively seeks positive change, identifying and actioning improvements and enhancements in delivery of an excellent visitor experience.
- Committed to providing and maintaining a positive work-environment, developing a world-class retail team, and developing and supporting all team members at all times.
People Management
- Will take part responsibility for managing a large team, supporting and energising its members to deliver first-class standards and service every day.
- Provide on the spot coaching and mentoring to team members, ensuring the retail team are trained and supported to deliver excellent visitor experiences.
- Engage consistently and productively with direct line reports to guide and manage performance.

Duty Management:
- Will be given the training, tools and mentorship to be able to deal with large range situations in a dynamic work environment, and be empowered to make independent decisions for the best of the business.
- Will champion all Health and Safety conventions and be able to take control of operation to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our visitors and team members.
- Ensures all cash and stock transactions are carried out accurately and completely, with an emphasis on procedure, protocol, and proper documentation.
- Ensures that the store presentation is to a continually high standard and implements immediate action when and where needed.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Minimum of 3 years management/assistant management experience leading a large team within a busy, highly customer-facing environment within the tourism, retail, or hospitality sectors is preferable. A demonstrated record of hitting commercial and performance targets.
