The Scrum Master is primarily responsible for ensuring the Team works as efficiently as possible and the correct use of Agile methodology, building coordination and performance management through each of the primary Agile ceremonies, whilst taking the lead to address performance challenges and reporting activities at a Team level.
Purpose of Role:
- OPERATIONAL FOUNDATION - Has obtained appropriate Agile Scrum Master certification. Actively facilitating new and mature project teams through the project lifecycle. Facilitator for the core Agile ceremonies (planning, stand-ups and retrospectives) and takes the lead for any performance challenges (i.e. blockers/impediments).
- SCALING FRAMEWORK - Plays a pivoting role in the operational scaling of Agile within the organization to ensure the effective alignment and coordination of interdependencies across multiple Teams.
- SCALING an AGILE CULTURE - Constantly leading members of the Team to constantly learn through the constant adoption of a Plan, Do, Act and Adjust cycle and protects the Team from outside pressure to ensure they are constantly investing time and energy discovering how to improve. (i.e. maintain a steady cadence with blended commitment to learning activities)
- MASTERING AUDIENCE & TECHNIQUES - Is an active member of the Scrum Master community by providing recommended enhancements designed to promote best practices and increase Team efficiency through the adoption of tools, assessments (e.g. Capability), methods (e.g. Kanban) and estimating and risk assessment techniques.
- AGILE ORGANISATION - Constantly engaging with other functions within the organisation to enhancement to the organisations Agile ways of Working OpsModel, Blueprint and/or guidelines..
- BUSINESS VALUE OF AGILE - Constantly developing their knowledge around such topics as blended business value and ROI modelling (i.e. BAU and new features), value stream mapping, root cause analysis and lean portfolio management to support the Team and Product Owner enhance the accuracy of the Product Backlog and subsequent activities and their deliverables.

- Servant-leader to the team, creating and maintaining the conditions that allow the team to be successful.
- Agile coach, helping to keep the team focused on delivering work items and fulfilling their iteration goals and commitments that they have made to the product owner.
- A true leader, facilitating communication, empowering them to self-optimize their processes, ensuring that the team has the resources that it needs, and removes any impediments to the team (issue resolution) in a timely manner.
- Ensures the adoption and correct use of the selected Tools, Assessments and Methods, e.g. Keeping the activity board up to date, performing regular performance assessments and discipline during the Agile ceremonies.
Qualification & Experience Required
- Is a people person more than a technologist
- An effective collaborator with the confidence to take ownership of internal and external dependencies and break down complex tasks
- A natural "servant" leader with a strong ability to teach and develop others on a wide range of Agile method and practices
- Has a passion for continuous learning and leading a Team's learning process to create high performing teams
- Has the foresight to see potential issues, performance challenges and risks, and has the necessary skills to influence and negotiate with the right people to maintain performance
- Is comfortable working in a fluid, fast-changing environments under pressure with high levels of ambiguity
- An understanding of both the current Business's industry and emerging business and technology trends
- Experience in designing and delivering complex digital capabilities
- Experience leading teams using Agile methodologies
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
- Azure DevOps, JIRA/Confluence, Rally or equivalent experience preferred
