About the Team

The St. James's Gate (SJG) Brewery consists of Dublin brewery plus the Beer Blending Agents (BBA) Brewery located on the SJG site. SJG is the sole brewery in the ISC. It brews a range of Diageo owned brands as well as a number of franchise beers. It produces multiple SKUs which are either kegged on site or transported in bulk tankers to packaging sites in Runcorn, Belfast or some 3rd party packaging sites.

About the Role

This role reports directly to the Brewing Shift Manager and interacts closely with the Quality Manager and production team members across the whole of the brewery operation. The Quality Analyst has responsibilities for providing Laboratory analysis to the brewing teams. In addition, this role supports all aspects of the Quality Agenda on site.

Other key accountabilities include:

  • Deliver accurate analytical data in a timely manner.
  • Use, maintain and calibrate instruments for analysis including HPLC,GC , Anton PAAR devices, ph , colour, acidity, sodium , turbidity meters.
  • Ensure that the Quality Sample Plans are delivered.
  • Preparation of analytical reagents necessary for performing analyses.
  • Train new laboratory staff and Production personnel in QC tests.
  • Be aware of all site key performance indicators and own KPI's relevant to the role and act to ensure that they are achieved
  • Utilise safe systems of working and own risk assessment of processes in the Laboratory.
  • Manage achievement of own training and development needs.
  • Support the development and implementation of the Quality & Food Safety Strategy on site.
  • Support the site compliance to FSSC 22000, ISO 9000 and FEMAS certification by supporting audits.

About You

We are looking for a dynamic person with great technical capability combined with first class interpersonal and communication skills who loves to challenge the status quo; proactively looks for continuous improvement opportunities and is looking to help develop best operational practice in the workplace.

In addition:

  • You'll have a third level degree in a related science subject or a diploma and a good level of exposure working practices within a similar environment.
  • Previous experience within a food manufacturing environment is desirable combined with a detailed understanding of statistical techniques, including SPC.
  • You'll have a sound knowledge of Food Safety Legislation and experience in the use of HACCP is highly sought after.
  • You must also demonstrate high level diagnostic and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to prioritise your workload.
