This role is based at Diageo's Shieldhall packaging site. Shieldhall packages a huge volume of Scotch malt whiskies, white spirits and ready to drink brands to supply over 170 countries around the world and is a key manufacturing site within the Scotch supply category.
About the role
The Performance Improvement Lead will be an integral part of our line team, helping to develop and coach cultural change towards achieving Zero Stops and Zero Waste. You will work closely with the Packaging Team Leader, sharing accountability for the results on the line scorecard, which includes safety, quality, cost, and service metrics. Your main focus will be on reducing operational efficiency losses, long and short stops, and other forms of waste.
In this role, you will implement and coach sustainable deployment practices and lead at least one practice at the line or hall level. You will partner with Packaging Team Leaders to apply tools and methodologies such as loss and waste analysis and structured problem-solving techniques. Additionally, you will facilitate plant and process problem-solving activities while coaching line teams on troubleshooting tools.
You will provide performance data to drive continuous improvement activities in meetings such as weekly planned preventative maintenance meetings and weekly team meetings. Supporting line teams in integrating continuous improvement approaches at various levels is also a key responsibility.
About you
We are looking for someone who has a background that includes proficiency in using manufacturing excellence tools like workplace organization methods, setup time reduction techniques, lean principles, asset care strategies, and structured problem-solving techniques. Strong engagement and communication skills are essential as well as intermediate project management abilities.
You should be adept at interpreting extensive data sources to identify opportunities for loss reduction and cost savings while being proficient in standard business software such as MS Office with working knowledge of enterprise resource planning systems.
